Dell can't deliver..

Right, so i ordered a laptop from dell on Friday and got the confirmation over the weekend. Can expect delivery on or before the 29th of December. I ordered one last month and was waiting three weeks aswell.

Wouldn't be a huge problem, apart from the fact that its a "Santa" present for a little girl and her Christmas will be ruined if there isn't a pink laptop for her on Christmas morning.

Does anyone know where i could pick up a pink or purple laptop in a bricks and mortor shop? OR even an online place that will be able to deliver on time..

    Thanks for your help.

Try calling Dell. My mother-in-law had an estimated delivery date of 3-4th of December for her laptop...she got it on November 20th!

Maybe a call to them explaining the situation might help because it seems that the estimated delivery times are off.

I did ring i'm afraid. Girl on the other end says they can't guarantee a delivery before the date stated, but that it might very well be delivered earlier.

    Don't want to risk it..

Sony make some pink laptop(s), you may be able to buy them in some Sony stores.

Acer make some pink Aspire One's, you may be able to get hold of one of those online, but you're running the same kind of risk as the Dell, as they're pretty in-demand machines around this time.

I would just take the chance that the Dell reaches you before Christmas, they usually err on the side of caution when it comes to delivery dates.

PC World have pink (and other colour) Dell 1525s in stock. My sis bought one at the weekend. Ask if they're not on display- they aren't always.

I order a new battery have them, and they said deliver was 24th December and I got it 4 days later. Then I got a phone call from them asking if I received the battery. So you should have your laptop in time.

I'd agree with voodoo and say that their est deivery dates are very cautious, had a similar experience where an est. Delivery date was a month away, ended up with my order in 5 days.

You're probably right about the Dell delivery date, but when i ordered one last month it did actually take as long as they said it would and i can't imagine it getting any better during Christmas.

I rang PC world and their Sligo branch has the same model in stock, pink and all. So i got them to hold it and im driving down Wednesday

    Thanks for all your replies.

Why not just get them to ship it to a shop nearer to you? It's not going to cost them anything as they own the shipping company too.

Can they do that? Wasn't the impression i got off the people on the phone. The guy from swords who checked their store stock said Sligo had about 20 in stock but he though i'd probably think that was too far.

He didn't mention anything about getting it sent down to swords, or liffey valley (The two i said would be closest to me).
