A byoc wah is probably the best quality-per-cash wah out there. Sadly, it's a kit and needs assembly. Good if your BF is the kind of kid who wanted lego for christmas :D.

You can get one pre-assembled,but that'll add 60E onto the price, Suddenly not such good value.

Alternatively, you could out yer soldering iron and assemble the kit yourself* and give it to him!!.

    *not gonna happen eh? :D

    This...

I have one, they're awesome! It combines a Wah, a Volume pedal and Fuzz.

The plain old Dunlop Crybaby is a great pedal, and wont break the bank, it may fracture it slighltly, but definitely wonty break it!!
Its been used by a gazillion pros, semi pros and amatuers like me and sounds great.
BTW prepare to laugh at his new found 'wah face':D

Thanks for that but yeah teh likelyhood of me putting it together is....well.......not very likely!! ;)

Bit of a ridiculous suggestion - Xmas day comes and she gives the boyfriend a bag of electronics parts and tells him to make his own present?
    "Yeah, eh, cheers love...."

I'd go for a Dunlop or a Vox wah pedal - both have been around for years and used by everyone famous and not so famous.

I think the idea would be for him to assemble it... :p
It'd keep him occupied for an evening and then he'd have something that he built himself.

I bought one of the BYOC pedals before (the Screamer). It's very good, all the parts and great instructions. The box is unpainted so you can paint it up in whatever colours you want. :)

But yeah honestly, you might be better to go for a Dunlop.
