    Hey all,

Last week I sent a question to 2 individual sellers using eBay's "ask seller a question" function to ask them about the suitability of a replacement petrol cap for my gf's imported Honda Fit (Jazz over here). This is something I've done many times before as I've been using eBay/Paypal for years now and never had any problems or even negative feedback.

Somehow though this violated eBay's "spam policy" and they have suspended my account. Every email I've sent to them is met with a generic reply waffling on about their spam policies and wanting me to sign a declaration saying I agree to the terms and even then they wont review it for 30 days.

Has anyone an actual phone number for this crowd? Thanks!

Found this on Yahoo Answers 0208 080 2100 - reckon you should drop the 0 and replace with 0044

I wouldn't call that number if I were you. I used to work for eBay and I can tell you there are various bogus site offering so-called eBay advise and either wasting your time or money. We had also a good few instances of "businesses" pretending to be eBay and setting up premium numbers for support. The number listed there is based in the UK so its definitely not for the irish site as the Irish business unit is based in Blanchardstown.

I don't suppose you, or any other present/recent employees, have a number for the Irish outfit then?

    I've just sent them this:
    Dear Sir/Madam,

I have now sent several messages to your Support team querying why you
    suspended my account last month.
These have been met with less-than-useless automated responses, but from
these I gather the reason was due to my allegedly having sent
    unsolicited email (spam).

As I stated in my prior email to yourselves, the only 2 messages I have
recently sent were related to the suitability of a petrol cap for my
girlfriend's car. These were sent to 2 seperate sellers and using the
"ask seller a question" option - something I've done dozens of times in
the past before committing to a purchase without a problem, so I fail to
see why it's an issue now!

As such, I want you to reenable my account immediately (as your 30 day
suspension period has now expired) and email me the contaact details of
a team leader/manager so I can discuss this matter further.

Please respond ASAP.. DO NOT SEND ME ANY MORE GENERIC AUTOREPLIES THAT
    DO NOT ADDRESS MY QUESTION

    Regards

.. and have received yet another auto-response!
If anyone has a Irish number for eBay I'd greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks and Merry Christmas :)

Just be careful with fuel caps.
I bought a lockable one for a toyota Celica import.
The eBay item specifically said "Toyota Celica".

The fuel cap arrived, but looked a different thread / depth.
I tried it and it got stuck and I couldn't release it.
Luckily I was dropping it in for a service the next day and got the mechanics to force it off.

So they could be selling you generic fuel caps, not honda specific ones.
Might be worth checking the price of a proper Honda cap from your local dealers.

So my top tip is to have a reasonable amount of fuel in your car before trying a new fuel cap... just in case it gets stuck and you need to drive it for a few days.

the call centers for europe are in Blanch, but each country would have their own local numbers to call through, thats what happens with PayPal.

There are no public phone numbers available. they are not setup to deal with complaints through the phone. Best thing to do is to go through the email system, failing that (which obviously it has) i would suggest you email them and ask them for a written address for you to lodge a complaint with them.
They are required to give you one (other wise ask them for Financial Regulator contact details).
    Make your case through there.
If they say no - then the answer is no.

It does sound like a silly incident though. their spam filters cant be that well tuned.

Unless someone has managed to access your ebay account and send out spam emails? unlikely, I know, but until you find out what the actual emails they consider were spam its something you have to consider.

change your password as a precaution.
