    Hi posters.
I'm posting here to see if some people would mind sharing their opinion on something. I've been texting a guy that I met at a party a few months back. Recently, our texts become more flirtatious. We became closer after discussing some personal things with each other, like I told him about some of the stuff I went through with a guy I was seeing years ago. And Vice Versa.
Anyway he text me a few days back saying that he thinks I'm beautiful and that he'd be lucky to have me etc..
Then yesterday he text me saying he was out the night before and had a great time with his friends. I said that's great and that Im glad he had a good night to which he replied saying, ''yeah it was great, I met this gorgeous girl too''.
I know I'm not with him or anything and he's totally entitled to meet who he likes. I'm just a little confused about why he told me. Does he want to stop texting me? Did I read his above compliments wrong?
I feel a little bit stupid actually. And I'm a little bit disappointed, I admit but I know that's my problem, not his. Should I just assume that he's not really into me anymore?

If you like him so much why have you not meet up with him and gone for a drink or on a date ?

It could be that he mentioned the 'gorgeous girl' to get you off the fence so he can see if you are intrested in more then just texting and being friends.

sounds like he's making a thinly-veiled attempt to make you jealous. he's basically told you he likes you(not in so many words!) and if you want him you have to make a move fast!

We did arrange a date. It was for next Friday but now I'm not so sure if it is a date or not. I've made it clear that I really admire him and would like to see him again and he's done the same. We were texting one night a few weeks back and he even said he wished I was there with him. But maybe he did mean just as friends? I really dont know now.

    That's why I'm so confused.

honestly my advice would be to make a bold move on him on this date; it really does sound like he's into you. if not, he's guilty of some seriously misleading behaviour.

well, a few days passed and he hasn't mentioned her since. We have been getting on well. He's been sending more cute texts, more kisses, suggestive messages etc.. I mean, I don't think I'm picking up his signals wrong. Would a guy tell a girl he'd like to be with her if he only meant as friends? Yesterday asking why I hadn't been in touch in a few days. I just said I'd lots to do and we got chatting again.

Same thing again, lots of flirting, even more talk about going out next weekend. He even sent me a text saying that he had the flu and was in bed for the night and said he wished I could join him. Then a few texts later he tells me that he's crazy for another girl he had met (not the same one as above).. so I don't know. I mean, he knows I would like to go on a date to get to know him better. And he implied the same to me. And we'd arranged to meet next week. So how do I read this? What exactly does he want me to say?

To be honest, I dont really want to reply. I feel kinda crappy when he tells me he likes other girls. But I wish I knew where I stood without asking him and comig accross all stupid and paranoid.

I think you have to take the bull by the horns here,
get him out on friday have a great time and make a move.
then see where it all goes from there.
i think it could be one of two things he could really like you but not having met up he could feel you might just want to be friends, so when he is out he meets another girl blah blah.
or he could be trying to make you jealous so you will jump on him.
the end result would probably lead to that.
    have fun;)

Since you havent met up yet, what is there to lose? I would simply ask him if its a date you are going on next Friday or if you are meeting up as just friends, as he keep mentioning other girls. Tell him like you told us, that you are a bit confused about by it all. Better to clear it out now before you get involved rather then afterwards when there might be more feelings involved.

Assumptions is the mother of misunderstandings. Just ask him.

I can imagine this guy thinking to himself 'what do I need to do to get it through?'. If you are trying to be too cool, you might end up sounding coy and uninterested. He sounds too shy to come out and tell you he worships you. May be he wants you to sweep him off his feet and tell him to forget those other girls:P

If a guy I was texting in a flirtatious manner started that I'd think he was a complete player (and probably a liar). He has already got you to agree to go out on a date with him, so he knows where he stands with you. I think he's being an asshole.

    +1

OP maybe I am being cynical here but if I were you I would cut my losses on this one. Like the above said, he already agreed to a date with you so he has no need to "make you jealous" so you will go out with him. If he acts like this before you go out on a date, can you imagine what he would be like if you with him??
