Does anyone remember that ad for the ESB I think it was (or maybe it was Bord Gáis) back in the early to mid-90's? The tune just popped into my head there yesterday for no apparent reason!

Wasn't their dancing bears or something in the ad?

Yeah, from my memory it was dancing bears, warm cosy fire, happy clappy family curled up in front of that fire.

WTF was 50/50 cash back offer though? I think they were advertising "change to natural gas now" but no idea what the actual offer was. *Grrrrr will bother me now.

The tune was "50 50 cash back, 50 50 cash back, its half price gas, its half price gas".

The deal was you got gas installed and got 50% off your gas bill for 5 years I believe. It did indeed involve dancing bears in the add.

Yes,and a hottie in the shower.Was about the late 80s.

In fairness it was a very catchy tune. my sister who is in her late twenties used to go mental when the add came on. Just hopping and dancing round the place and trying to sing the feckin' tune ....even though she couldn't speak

Must torment her about it again.

They should re-release the add, nostalgia and all that. I bet you'd never get the 50/50 offer again though.

That one actually was an ESB ad for Nightsaver electricity...

The dancing bears however, were BGÉ's idea. Half price Supersaver Rate gas.
