    Hi guys,

I'm heading up north soon, and am thinking of getting a HD reciever, but the PVR is a little to expensive, the normal one with out the hard disk looks good, but would there be any way of connecting it to my PC, so it can record to that, as I would like to be able to record!

Also I'm thinking of connecting it to my PC Monitor, using a hdmi - dvi cable, the qulaity should be fine right? its a nice new 22inch samsung lcd monitor!

Any help would be great :)

If anything goes wrong it is a long way to go to bring it back! If you have a bit of a hard neck you can get those things in the South for a good price. Haggle people Haggle! The shops are desperate for customers.

PC Monitors often do 25i or 50p badly and often have native refresh related to NTSC (30i, 60p, 85p etc)

Expect bad de-interlace artifacts and blurring on motion using a PC monitor.

Unless the screen takes 1080x25i input and display is native 1080 line or 1200line with either decent 25i to 50p conversion or 25i native mode it will be degrading the HD terribly, to point where SD on a good CRT would look better!

With 22" you would want to sit about 1m from screen, or again HD is simply not worth while. That's the same as 42" to 48" at about 6ft approx 2m viewing distance.

Ok good stuff to know :)

I'd just be using the monitor until I got a proper TV.

Well not sure what xxxxp the monitor is, but its resoloution is 1680x1050 and has a 2ms response time, would it still degrade the HD pics?

    Thanks :)
