College names

When preparing the results for website, I frequently have to normalize college names. In particular:
    - Maynooth, NUIM or NUI Maynooth
    - Carlow IT, Carlow or CIT
    - Dundalk IT or DKIT

I use the first name in each line.

What names are preferred by people studying at these colleges? What names are better to differentiate from other colleges in results list with similar names (NUIG, DIT)?

The official way of addressing the members of the National University system is "NUI" followed by the name of the city.

i.e: NUIG should rightly be called "NUI Galway"

But thats just the official way of doing it. "NUIG" or "NUI Galway" is fine by us.

Carlow should be "IT Carlow" or ITC
