Hi ,just wondering whats the story with importing stuff from the uk , tyres car parts , tools etc, giving your Irish vat no. and not having to pay any uk vat or any vat. Should it be declared here then,
What if you were then to sell it on then, would you then have to declare something on it , if you were not selling it on ,for profit .

Straightforward, just give the company you are dealing with your VAT number, they won't charge you at their end, but you do have to note it in your VAT return, i.e. the is a box for EU imports. Obviously you have to charge VAT on your sales here aswell.

Check out the following link which explains importing within the EU and VAT with intra-EU trade

i am looking into buying a container of goods from china.
does anyone know how do the shippers work out the cost of this?
is it by weight,or by value of the contents?also is a 40ft container double the price of a 20ft?

anyone got a rough idea of the cost?
