One of the projects we were given in college this year is a free brief so we can do anything we like at all in the whole wide world.

So after my first idea fell through I happened upon Bridgestone Muay Thai online and so am doing a small documentary on them. Just thought I'd put some of the pics up with more to come. Hope they look ok as I'm working on a laptop at the moment and have never been sure bout them what with the angle of the screen etc etc.

Liking one and two alot. They're less contrasted than what you usually go for though?

Like number one a lot, i would personally have went for focusing on the logo on his back rather than the knuckles/elbow area.
But it works, it gives a very understated sense of power.

Its also got the Karate Kid song running through my head..."Your the best around....."

I like 3 and 4 a lot, in my experience taking boxing pics I know that the movement in number 4 is hard to get, they are so fast, well done. What lense?

Weird, I've just taken up Muay Thai :)
Nice photos, Muay Thai is hard to photograph as it can be very explosive.

Cheers folks. yeah it was 50mm 1.8. As for the kicking shot, far as i understand he is irish champ for his weight class and man those kicks were hard, unbelivable force behind em. So yeah, 1.8 at ISO 800. I didn't want to use flash and also wanted to look a little grainy.

Well done on number 4. If he is at that level then he kicks would be extremely snappy, very hard to capture as you have done.

    you forgot snowboarding!:)
actually i gave that up because i crashed into a tree and ironically thats why i'm posting this from my phone face down on a physio's table.
    :)

Op, watch for when they step forward and turn their non kicking foot outwards. Look at your pic above to see what i mean. They'll do that just before they kick.
