    Hey,

I've been thinking of getting a holga...I was just wondering what the best option is re. getting pictures from the camera to a cd, I really have no idea what the best option is, since I don't own a scanner. Are there places that can burn them onto a cd for you, and at what sort of costs? And how much would it cost to get a roll of film developed? Or are there any cheap scanner options? Bear in mind that this isn't for anything professional, I just thought I'd like to try it out!!

    Cheers folks!!

can be done in shops ie gunns/conns for a fee, round 8 or 10 euro i thinks, scanning yourself is cheaper, developing yourself, even cheaper ...

Yep, most places that dev 120 can scan it for you aswell. It can get kinda pricey. A friend of mine bought a Canoscan, which is pretty decent, not sure of the exact model off the top of my head, but he paid 200 for it in a bricks and mortar shop at the start of the summer, has 120 and 35mm scanning trays.

Dev only is usually about 3 quid, scan and dev is usually about 12 quid, so if you get a shop to scan 20 rolls, you've pretty much paid the price of a scanner... which has loads of other uses anyways!!!

Best thing to do, buy a Holga off eBay, for about 20 quid, get 2 rolls of BW and 2 Col, shoot them and get prints, if you like what you see, then go further, if not, you've not wasted too much! It can be damn hard getting good results from a Holga, so I wouldn't worry too much about it if you're very pissed off with your first attempt.

You can get a 35mm Holga too, but I've never used one, I have, however, shoved some cardboard at either end of a roll of 35mm, and ran it through my 120 Holga :)

Dev'ing shouldn't be a problem if you can pop up to Dublin often - I don't know what Greystones is like for 120!
