question about dole/pps/NI number

Hi. I'm on the dole here in Ireland. now there may be a job for me in England that I'd love to take. but in order to get it i will have to get a NI (same as pps ) number.however it could take a while to get the job or it could fall through. So my question is can I apply and hold an NI number and keep my dole in the mean time until i get the English job sorted or will it automatically mean that i get cut off ???

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

You can start working in a UK job even without having a National Insurance number. Surely it would be better to stay in Ireland and signing on here, until you've confirmed the position in the job in England. At which case you can "sign off", as it were, leave Ireland and make the move.

You can wait 'til you've started working in your job, before having to apply for an NI number.
