is this the biggest fight of the year involving an Irish fighter?

If it is then it shows that although we've seen a LOT of action this year there hasnt been much top quality stuff

Well Foreman is probably the best quality opponent an Irish boxer has faced this year. Hoping this will be televised as its on the Holt-Hopkins undercard. Don't see why not and I really hope Moore wins.

Biggest fights Irish fighters have had this year:
    Andy Lee: Willie Gibbs
    Matthew Macklin: Yori Boy Campas
    Bernard Dunne: Felix Machado
    John Duddy: Walid Smichet
    Paul McCloskey: Colin Lynes
    Martin Rogan: Audley Harrison
    Martin Lindsay: Derry Matthews

Out of that lot Colin Lynes is probably the best quality there, infact there's no probably about it, he is really.

Is Yuri Foreman a higher quality than Colin Lynes ?, well he's probably about the same level but as he fights out of America and is on a very good run he's better ranked. In terms of quality it's even.
Had Lynes been given the decision against Branco(which he should have imo), Lynes would of been carrying similar World rankings and accolades to what Foreman has now.

Big chance for Moore tonight if he wins, he's probably out of his depth unfortunately.

The best fighter an Irish fighter fought last year was Howard Eastman, and if you look at the list at the top you'll probably notice that Irish fighter in general took on tougher tests this year than in previous years.

With fights like Lindsay v Appleby, Macklin v Elcock and potentially Rogan v Skelton that looks set to continue.

Totally outclassed unfortunately. Didnt win a round. Foreman didnt get out of third gear and delivered right crosses at will.

Foreman looked like the fighter Moore wants to be. :(

Unfortunately last night was a showing of the level James Moore is really at, which is domestic and just above. He made Foreman look amazing in there due to the difference in speed, that's speed in just about every area(hand, foot, reflexes, thought etc). Foreman was also physically the stronger fighter.

I think a fight with Henry Coyle for the Irish title would make most sense.
There's unfinished business between Coyle and Moore and I think it's apparent neither will ever make huge waves in America so why not get a domestic war out of the two.

Gary O'Sullivan is an emerging Light-Middleweight who would be good enough to challenge either of them in the future if he gets the chance. Unfortunately O'Sullivan is off the December 18th bill due to work commitments, which is a real shame.

Other than that the domestic scene at Light-Middleweight has Ciaran Dufy and Ciaran Healy, neither anything special but Healy is a few levels above Duffy.

We also have the two Englishmen eligible for the Irish title in Lee Murtagh(who was knocked out by Healy but other than that has better wins than Healy), and Jamie Moore who we're unlikely to see contesting an Irish title again anytime soon as he has bigger things on his mind.

John Duddy and prospect Willie Thompson complete this division, but Thompson may be operating at Welterweight when it comes to fighting for titles and Duddy probably won't be fighting for quite some time, and not at this level anyway. Well maybe at this level just not against Irish fighters.

Unfortunately nothing went Moores way but it was a huge step up.
Id love to see him involved in a series fo fights with other Irish light middle / middleweights or at least a fight with Coyle and maybe Healy.
