When I let my PS3 choose it's optimum display settings, it outputs to 1080p. Which I thought odd as my tv is HD Ready, and not full HD. Is my tv (Samsung LE32A456 processing it down to 1080i, or do I have a magic tv? :)

If your tv is not 1080p then you are not seeing 1080p

That's what I'm assuming all right, but the ps3 brings up the screen saying can you see it now at 1080p etc.

I'm going to stick with my magic tv theory. Either that or it grew some more lines.

    lol............

maybe the tv just simply realised that it had to either evolve or be thrown out. i think darwin showed us all that evolution is the possible

They all do that as far as i know. Even with simplt HD Ready ones for some reason.

    It's all fake HD anyway.

But for the purposes of this thread, 1080p > 1080i.

Your TV resolution is 1,366 x 768 so it can't be a Full HD display.
Your Tv accepts 1080p as an input but doesn't output at a resolution of 1080 it scales it back down to 768

go to the settings tab on your ps3

    then display settings

go to manual settings and thick the res you want and save

I was thinking that all right, but had assumed that if the ps3 was sending the signal as progressive rather then interlaced, that I'd be seeing a blank screen. As I'd only the series four lcd, I knew it couldn't do 1080p, I didn't think that the tv would accept the input and downscale..

Change it to 720p. That is actually better then 1080i.
The reason for this is that i = interlaced, p = progressive. At any one time in Interlaced you are only seeing half of the lines. That is, it outputs every odd line in one go and every even line in the next. So in reality you only ever see 540 lines at anyone time at 1080i(540 + 540 = 1080 ;)) Your brain doesn't notice this as it is done to fast for u to see. However in gameplay it causes fast moving things and shadows to blur.
If you set it to 720p you are seeing 720 lines all the time without any fooling around. seeing 720 lines all the time is better then 540 lines half of the time. Means fast moving objects will not blur.

I dunno if that makes any sense but that's my 2 pence on the situation.
Gunna rent myself a full hd next week :) 1080p :D

i changed the display to 760p and the screen is still blurry, not as bad as 1080i. is there anything else to do to stop this without reducing the picture quality?

I have a query about this tv.
It's output resolution is the usual 720p, but it will accept a 1080p input.

The tv will scaledown a 1080p input to 720p, right? But should one set their PS3 output to 720p or 1080p??

I was consideing getting the 32W4000 (1080p)model until i noticed the one above. If I do end up gettin the W series, would i be better off setting PS3 output to 720 also, seeing as how I'll be playing games on it mostly.

Any advice in this is appreciated.

NOTE: I would also appreciate if nobody comes on here saying, "FULL HD on a 32 is pointless blahblahblah...." Not interested. Thanks in advance.
