I've heard of them before and was just curious how someone can be a rakeback pro
Do they break-even at high limits 8-tabling and get $$$ from rakeback or what?

there are loads of small stake ones too... they are multitabling 12-16 tables and playing like a nit and collecting 3 k per month at say 50/1 or 1/2

Essentially by about January i can get $800 a month off a i poker skin for playing 1000 $10 sngs. Loyalty club same as rakeback really.

If you translate this to someone playing $50 sngs its 5 times that $4000 and it would be $8000 for $100 sngs.

So a player with 0% Roi at $100 sngs could make $2000 a week.

    This is how it works

There wouldnt be "rakeback pro's" at high levels.
They wouldn't be contributing a hell of alot more rake at high stakes compared to small stakes. If you can break even at high stakes you can beat medium stakes and make lots more than rakeback.
The thought of being a "rakeback pro" makes me feel a bit ill. It's like some sort of insult "G'wan you fecking rakeback pro!"

yeah it's more of a joke/insult than anything else.

class meself as a rakeback pro because i make more from rakeback than i do from profits. no shame in it. serious money can be made from rakeback

    What do you play?

sit n gos. i could make alot more profits if i wanted and not rely on rakeback by playing less tables and concentrating more on each game. but this is not the best thing to do imo when playing sngs for a living. u soon realise its all about volume

You play on stars mostly though Mick? Do you get cash from them via the FPP's etc??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 335 ✭✭BIGMICKG

Ok I was talking about cash games, I have erased STT's from my brain due to past hardship.
I'm guessin playin STT's at volume means you pay far more than a cash game player?
I play about 20k hands at 400nl a month and only pay 2k in rake.

At what stakes do the recreational players disappear and the regs take over the tables?

That seems very low imo, I would have thought that it would be a lot clsoer to 4K - 4.5K paid in rake each month

Kinda off topic but do any of these RB pros get involved in Poker Propping? I have an offer from a site to do so and it gives me 100% RB - Didn't know such a thing existed until recently and tbh, don't really know much about it, are there any major con's to it?

propping is done by a good few sites and some will give 100% + rakeback.. so your actually paid to play there... your job is to open new tables and fill them and rince and repeat

rakeback is always smaller than the rake so they're just winning players reclaiming part of what they've won.

what depresses me is the criminal amount of rake these sites take. and then pretend like they're giving you a "bonus" by offering you a quarter of it back.

Criminal? no-one holding a gun to anyones head, and there is at at least one rake free site out there if it bothers anyone that much.

LOL, way to evalue the english language. The Poker sites are not under any obligation to provide nits with a living.

I am a rakeback pro. I 16 table 100nl for a living. This month I was up $200 in winnings, I had to lose that immediately, I am rakeback pro, you see.

yeah they have a right to charge what they want. and I have a right to point out that they're ripping people off. I didn't mean criminal in the legal sense, maybe 'extortionate' is a better word.
    your doing it wrong imo.

I'm a recreational player playing a few hours a week. I know I could probably qualify for up to 50% of my money back if I devoted all of my spare time to playing online poker but then I think I would be doing something wrong.

There's a good article on the subject here: The cost of the rake

"the expert player was winning at a rate of 4.77 bb/100 in the unraked game. When the expert was playing in a raked 2/4 game, his earn rate dropped down to 1.05 bb/100. The rake is taking over three-quarters of his winnings."

People are contemptuous of the multi-tabling nits, but the punishing rakes the sites charge at the .50/1, 1/2 type of levels is sucking the life out of online poker games a lot more than the multi-tablers are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

that article is about limit, totally different kettle of fish when it comes to rake. most limit players are pretty much rb pros.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 287 ✭✭Tony3004

so i played a small bit of .50/1 before online didnt make much didnt lose much.not really that serious and never even taught about rakeback.

i already have accounts with all the big sites and few smaller ones. thinking of starting multitabling micro limits ie .10/.25 on FT. can i just apply for rakeback, if so how, or do you have to do it when you are signing up

    thanks in advance

You should find it pretty easy to get a site that will give you atleast 40%+ no matter how much you play a month.

What on earth are you talking about???? You don't get rakeback based on how many hours / hands you put in. You an easily get anywhere between 30%-50% RB whether you put in 2K hands a day or 2K hands a year.

You bitch and complain about how much online sites take in rake but yet you do absolutely nothing to reduce the amount you pay...put up or shut up imo

Can you only apply for rakeback when signing up to a site? What if you already have an account and want to get it?

Many rakeback pro's I know just play in one or 2 rake races every month (see http://rakerace.co.uk for a bunch of em)

some sites offer 50% rakeback as standard, so multi-tabling in these badboys is way +EV - even if you're breakeven you're a winner.

as for some sites offering 100% RB, paynorake offers 100% RB but you will do well to get it as it has daily targets and your rake contribution is reset every 24h (obv they are betting on a trend that nobody will rake enough to get 100% RB)
