how ye reckon this will go? I thought it would have been on the comp poll but hey.

On paper it looks like an Appleby win by KO and further progression but hearing Pickering on the Bunce show he sounds well up for it and has experience on his side.

I still go for Appleby but on points.

Then a show down with Martin Lindsay.

    .

Looks like you were spot on. You get to see the fight? How did Pickering do?

the first 10 rounds are up on youtube.

It seems Esham's punch resistance is back now that he's moved up to Featherweight. He's still looking like a faded fighter though.

Appleby gave a decent performance, it must be taken into account that despite him being British champion he is still a novice(although a very talented one). At just 21 years old and 13 fights into his career he's in a position where he's going to be matched tough with that belt in his hands, but I think Pickering was the perfect step for him.

Appleby's mandatory(which will be his next fight) is Martin Lindsay who is still learning himself(despite coming off a massive win over Derry Matthews), so in that sense it's hard to judge a winner as both could be very different men the next time we see them.

Paul Truscott(Commonwealth champion) is another young man with few fights who is in the British title mix up. Still learning like the other too he faces the experienced John Simpson(yes Simpson the 25 year old veteran :D), in a match that will surely see the winner face the winner of Appleby and Lindsay. Simpson ran Appleby close when he lost the title to him and the fight with Truscott will be close too.

There's little between these men but whoever comes out the winner will stand a great chance at the European title. Of course another young fighter Akaash Bhatia may become involved in this too.

I fancy Appleby to get the better of Lindsay and Simpson to best Truscott to set up a rematch between the 2 Scots with Appleby prevailing again. All results by way of points decisions.

Anyway, interesting British Featherweight scene at the moment, even if there isn't anything of note outside the top 6.
