Don't ya just love these recessions, combined with the weak sterling and lower UK VAT rate that is drawing Irish people up north and forcing shops down here to offer prices that would have been unheard of 6 months ago just to get the customers. Fair play to Powercity, at least they have the cop on to realise that if they don't try and compete, they'll go bust.

There are limited numbers at that price: 20 for the 50" LG TV, 15 for the fridge. 30 for the smaller 37" Samsung TV, and it's 1 per customer.

This really is desperation. Usually, deals like these are'nt until the days after Christmas. At this rate, i'll be able to get the tv i want down south instead of having to go up north. Up until very recently, it was cheaper for me to drive up north(Amazing considerin i'm down in Cork) but now, i'm not so sure....

I am always sceptical of cheap tvs on offer, was in HN last week and anything that seemed cheap was actually not great value and worth spending the money to get decent stuff, coupled with probably 5 of them on offer. ALways review before you buy to make sure its what you want

Bear in mind its "Collet Only"

Thats true, expecially in Harvey Normans case. The cheap tvs they advertise arfe always ****e brans like Hisense. Total Rubbish. In fairness to DID, though, the tvs they have on offer are alright. Not sure about the LG but i would definitely get the samsung if i was able to. A year ago, that really would have been twice the price. The joys of a recession....

Personally I choose lcd over plasma but some people think they are the same thing so do your research first!

the industry recomendation is to go with LCD upto 40", but go for Plasma thereafter.

I prefer the plasma over lcd myself and 50" for 699 is a fantastic price

I remember back in 2004 or 2005 i bought an lg plasma reduced from
1599 to 999 in a st stevens day sale at did in mounttjoy square

I remember people couldnt belive how good value my tv was back then

    if they saw this......

I've a samsung series 6 46 inch lcd and after some initial hiccups with the picture settings, its turned out to be a great tv and blu ray looks amazing.

The big problem with plasma's is their weight ,they're nearly twice the weight of lcd's.

I suppose you'll see them held back for friends and family of staff.
"Sorry bud, all gone" even if you're one of the first people in the store
Maybe Powercity management won't allow it but I've seen this in other stores

    Seems a great deal though
