Afaik Ryan flies to Ferihegy, 25 clicks from the city centre. Not very far.

Yup same one as Aer Fungus. My in laws were over last weekend with Ryanair. Apparently it was snowing fairly heavily as they were flying home. They were worried it would delay their flights but it didn't in the end.

personally I'd check all three airlines, Ryanair aren't always the cheapest.

yes but malev are always at least double what aer lingus are

on a different note , ive never flown ryanair and lets just say im a little long in the leg , is the leg room on ryanair much worse than on aer lingus

I'm not sure what aircraft Aer Lingus use for the Budapest route, but if it is the A320, then there isn't a lot of difference. The advantage with Aerlingus is that you can choose your seat so you should be able to get an aisle or exit seat if you book far enough in advance. if you go for the early boarding extra though you should also be able to get a decent seat, if you don't mind queueing up for 45 minutes before your flight is due to leave.

I didn't know that about Malev, I flew with them from Gatwick to Budapest and they were a lot cheaper than BA, mind you, their planes are no better than Ryanairs to be honest.

    I didn't find that.

Anyway, if you have such a poor view of Hungarians, why go to Budapest? It's full of Hungarians.

Been there a few times-It's a beautifull City.

Last time we were there we gate crashed a party on a river boat-great crack!
No problems with Malev either-very friendly.

I found them kind of old fashioned, you get an old fashioned aircraft meal (ghoulash of course) and one drink, kind of like you used to pre Ryanair days.

They weren't too bad but they use 737-800s and plane wise no difference to a Ryanair flight.

Get the train from Fehrigy to Nyugati Station, maybe? The station is about 200 metres walk from the front door of the airport, costs about €6-7 and takes about 20 minutes to get to Nyugati.
