    Hello,

Recently i bought this one and it should be delivered in the coming days.
Now nothing frustrates me more than gettign something new and then you can not use it immediatly.
To prevent that i want to go out and get all necessary cables so when the stuff is delivered i should be able to have everything up and running the same day.

    What needs to be connected:

    The NTL/UPC dgital box
    Samsung dvd/vcr combo (DVD v6800)
    PC
    Argosy Mediaplayer
    Xbox 360
    Hyundai LCD HD ready.

Cables for TV (HDMI ) and Argosy (component) i do have.
My pc is now connected (picture only) on the tv's hdmi port so i suppose that one will also work when connected to the amplifier.

That would leave sound form pc to amp. Would a cable on line out on my soundcard do the trick?

For the Xbox, i could use component as well and that cable i have already as well.

Unless i am mistaken i still have an hdmi cable to connect amp to the tv so that is sorted too.

My DVD/VCR is now connected to the tv via scart and that will have to be replaced by component.
But to get the most of the surround, if i understand right, i would need a Digital audio coax cable.
Now to me that looks like a standard cinch cable but i suppose it isnt...?

Now my biggest question mark, how do i connect the NTL/UPC box to the amplifier? There is only scart available on that box.

Leaves speaker cable but as far as i know there is cable included in the box. They will probably be too short but that doesnt stop me from using it for a few days.

    Any help/advise is appreciated.

Not sure about your box but mine (also NTL) has stereo output for audio (phono). If yours doesn't, why not ring NTL to see if you can upgrade it?

Let us know how this set-up works out for you. Looking for a similar one myself :)

Even if it is within the past 5 years the box has an optical TOSLINK output.

    Thanks for the replies!

Above i had been writing from work and now i am at home i checked the NTL box and it does have optical out indeed.

So i just run picture straight to the tv and run audio via the amp?

That is the bad thing about on line shopping, you have to wait for delivery... grrrrr

    Update.

Received the set. Big box, 35 kilos
I dont know why but the more these things weigh the better i like it....

Too bad i ordered the cables i needed too late after first shopping around.
If ever you end up in a similar position that you need a few different cables, dont even consider going to shops. Just go on line.
Cheaper and at least you can get everything from 1 supplier. I used nexxia.co.uk. Ordered there monday evening, received today.

    Now the set up.
Well the only thing that can make that awkward is the room you have. Connecting all stuff is straightforward as it can be. Use the user guide in case of doubt and things should be running in no time. I had the guide open on my pc screen so that made it a little bit easier.

Since i only got it working a short time ago i can not say too much about the quality of the sound because that will need some fine tuning here and there. First impressions are making me pretty happy with this set in any case.
If you dont want to spend more than 300 this is a very nice set i think.

    And now food and movies!
