Macbook - PC file sharing problem

    Hi

I've got a pc at home connected to a DSL router/modem. I can browse the shared files easily on my mac when connected to the wireless network of that router/modem.

I recently bought an Airport N and have that connected to one of the LAN ports on the router/modem. I would like to use the Airport wireless network to access the PC shared files (802.11n speed), but I cannot connect through the Airport-to-router/modem connection. I can see the PC in Finder, but I get "connection failed". If I revert back to the old WiFi network, I can see them fine, but do not benefit from the faster network speed.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

can you change the airport to 802.11 b/g?

the 'n' might be causing issues.

does your mac have an n-rated airport card?
    the pc's is prob just b/g ??

Does your old modem/router have wireless built in ? Have you disabled it ? Is the Airport configured to issue ip address, i.e. DHCP enabled - if so is the modem/router also set likewise ? If both are set you may try disabling one and see if that helps.

I doubt the 'n' is the problem. It's supposed to be fully backwards compatible. Make sure both computers are connected to the same wireless access point, the Airport unit I presume ? Confirm by checking the names of the Wireless networks each machine is connected to.
