selling percentage for fitz main event? this saturday

the ticket is worth 1075 and im selling 50% of my action and have had two backers already for 20%, selling 10% at 110, anybody interested in sticking a small investment in me, 30% left? anybody who doesnt know me its albert kenny. cheers

Hey Albert,
I think you're a decent player, but if you won the ticket then why the hell are you selling 50 percent of yourself. Surely swap a percent with some other players if you want, but selling 50 percent sounds like your playing with scared money.

This isn't a personal dig Albert i just dont understand the mentality of players that do this. if you're selling 50 percent of yourself, you're not even 50 percent committed to trying your best imo.

Its something Albert has always done, even for buyins a lot less than this. I've backed Albert in quite a few tournies and to be fair, he has a pretty good return rate and always gives 100%.

I dont think Albert will give anything less than 100% in this tournament considering that even 50% of 1st prize will be a nice few grand

I partially understand your views Mick on selling percentages generally but I think you are wrong in this case and it would be a good idea to have a separate thread to fully air your views on it rather than derailing this specific thread.


I personally have bought and sold percentages a number of times and have never not got full value for money or given the same in return. I do not invest in most people I hasten to add, as even good players can make bad investments and most players are general losers (myself included) but in certain situations they can be relative good investments.

I have no doubt that Al is a +EV investment in this instance and hence I'm backing my view.

interesting analysis there mick, i actually seem to play better when i have a few people backing me which im sure a few people would tell you including flushdraw, but interesting point, just dont think it applies to me.

I know this isn't the case with albert as I know him well obviously and I know his reasons for doing so.

1) He plays with that extra bti of pressure on his shoulders and it gives you that extra reason to stay focused and reduces the time you spend tilting as you know you can't afford to/
2) If he is not rolled for a 1100 game then, now he is effectively playing it like a 550 game. I do this too, in that, I love the structure of the game and think it suits how I play, then I'll be happy to play that structure in a 550 game which I could afford.
so by selling the 50% you are playing a 550 game with the structure of a 1100 game, that make sense?Also Albert didnt satellite he bought his ticket.

Aw no % left. I would have bought 5-10 % I'll probsbly spend more by missing this event this weekend. I hope to play Sundays though if I'm still alive . If any other competent player like Albert wans to offload some action , let me know.

I used the word if in regards to his ticket. Playing as a 550 game doesn't bear relevance. I just think he doesn't need to sell 50% of himself. Albert is a decent player, I'm just surprised more than anything.
