I wonder would the latest plan put forward by irish bank asset managers allong with a possible co-investment with the government with possible pension funds be the best plan for exsisiting shareholders bank employes whilest also giving the government the posibility of a v good longterm investment adding more value to the pension fund.

Personally, I think so, but it's a very protectionist policy in my view.

I think Beggs is calling for the government stake ,precisely so they (ICTU) will be able to influence the cuts (or lack of), along with which ailing companies should get an "emergency loan"

Will be very interesting to see which plan is adopted and how it will effect certain banks share prices, If the latest irish investor plan allong with gov investing with pension funds with pref shares goes ahead with say boi aib we could see a good rally, with the weaker banks & building societys e.g anglo inw and ebs a poss merger could be on the cards, il&p seem to be well capitalised and not interested in any merger, could also see some upside later this week with eu and uk intrest rate cuts.

rate cuts will be priced in already. The only move to the upside will be if they cut more than expected. The ECB wont do this though

Possibly so but we could see a 0.75% -1%rate reduction from ecb instead of the expected 0.5%, ecb have been seen as slow to respond to crises upto now so they just might supprise markets with a larger rate cut.
