Sorry that the msg thread got axed by the moderator due to a msg I wrote :p

Anyway, we can resume on this thread...

I've added IP address detection code, so the site will automatically default the currency to the one used in the country of the visitor.

I'm currently cleaning up some payment routines and integration with my existing database.

Hopefully, I'll get everything going in a few days

Hope you've factored in the Boards.ie discount into the system. :D

*nods sagely and cheekily at Covey's suggestion*...

What's the web address again? Is there anything up at the moment?

    It's www.keaphoto.com

But it is blocked for everyone except the approved beta testers.

Email me with your fixed IP addr if you want to be a beta tester.

    Hello Everyone,

www.keaphoto.com is now up and alive!

There is a coupon code, and it is ilovekea

This will give you 2% discount on all items ordered. The coupon is valid until Jan 31, 2009.

Thanks for all the beta testers who helped to debug the site.

    Have fun and happy holidays!

It appears prices have def increased...I had read a short while back this was going to happen and it did!
Kerso beats them on a fair few items.
    eg the 70-200 2.8 IS, 100-400 F4.5-5.6 L IS, 100mm 2.8 Macro etc etc

I think Kea prices are based off the dollar (vaguely remember reading this) and kerso is sterling so theres quite a bit of fluctuation at the moment

I am just going by what I convert and what we have to hand over!! and he def seems dearer, once upon a time he was cheaper than Kerso....

Currency will go up and down, so I'm sure it'll be no time until Kea are cheapest again.

Sexy loyalty to Kea here.... :p

As someone who has used Kea and recommended them in the past I'm afraid that under present currency conditions my busiiness is going to Belfast.

For example I got a new D3 for less than €3k whereas Kea is €3150 subject to vat upon entry to Ireland. The 24-70mm lens cost me less than €1200, kea are €1350 plus customs charges.

Additionally linking to keaphoto is against the charter of this forum and if you want to know why read alberts faq's.

I'm closing this thread as it is the second time that the charter has been infracted specifically on the topic of the Keaphoto store.

Please read the charter and the recently posted "Anyone Buyin or Sellin" thread in the sticky area.

Feel free to PM any of the moderators if there are any queries as to commercial operations on boards.ie or better still, contact the system admins and discuss the commercial opportunities on boards with them.

I think it is enough for boards members to know that Albert is still in business. I'm sure genuine recommendations will ensue to persons seeking buying advice which is perfectly allowable - pimping a commercial site isn't.
