    Hi Guys,

I was asked by someone to recommend an external flash for a Sony Alpha DSLR and as I know very little about them I thought I would ask on here.

    What would you suggest??

Not sure but if they go into a local Sony centre they should have a catalogue for gear.

Got a Sigma EF-530 DG ST there a while ago for my Sony Alpha and I'm quite happy with it.

I found that I got more bang for my buck with the Sigma flash unit than with the Sony flash unit.

The one I got is about €200 in Conn's (can probably be found cheaper elsewhere...)

The Sony option would be the Sony HVL-F42AM

Of course there are other options from both Sigma and Sony and afaik Metz also have some options...
