are there any good music stores in newry, Co Down? Might be heading up in a week or two and would be a nice spot to pick up some new gear considering 1 sterling = 1 euro.

Dunno what gives you the impression that 1 euro = 1 pound. Some of the supermarkets offer 85 or even 90p to the euro but I've only ever seen the toy store up there offer 1 euro to the pound. It would be cheaper alright to buy up there but I doubt you'll get that rate.

For instruments I reckon you'd have more luck driving to belfast

If you go up to Belfast I can recommend Matchetts Music, they're on the way up to the City Hall up there, just on one off the roads off it, to your right if you're facing city hall

I suggest the guitar emporium if you are that way inclined. Its a cool spot with decent prices, its on shaftsbury square beside laverys bar.
