I am, I am scared ****less that they are going to go off on another tangent bombing the crap out of some poor country because of their paranoia. Why are they so paranoid? What is the bloody deal with them? Can't we all just get along? :(

I'm not afraid of America per se. I'm more afraid of the consequences of their actions in the middle east and Pakistan.

They're currently bombing the crap out of little villages in Pakistan. Those survivors are going to be really pissed off and Pakistan has nukes.

I have lots of american mates by the way, they are cool... I am talking about the people with a little power. You know the ones that want to invade australia, japan etc etc because they're "next" for what reasons I do not know...

You do know they heavily edit those clips to leave out the people who give reasonable sensible answers don't you? For every moron who says "invade australia. Those Europeans have had it coming!", there's probably a couple of hundred who say something much more intelligent. It just doesn't make good viewing for Michael Moore fans.

    No.
It's all about power and money.

The government aren't paranoid, the people are.

The powers that be whip the average joes into a state of paranoia and dumbness so that they can do whatever teh fúck they want.

That's what I mean, what they do, why they do it, etc etc. You know we is all fooked in the future because of some dumbass "america is invincible" belief. I mean there is nothing anyone can do either. Ok there's the chinese, but I mean on a small scale. Not all out war. Will obama bring some stability to this? Give me peace of mind for crying out load :(

Doesn't mean your safe, if anything I rather be black living in the east. I think europe would get it's ass kicked in the crossfire... Is this kind of crap going to last forever? Bombings, terrorist attacks, reckless endangerment of human life? I think so :(

And I'd rather be living in a comfortable city where my chances of having a cruise missile land on my head are a lot smaller than if I had the misfortune to be born 100 yards up the goat track from where some shabby, bearded fuker decided to teach some impressionable teens Jihad.

The hype they use to justify it is frequently quite paranoid. However the he truth of their motivation is usually grounded quite firmly in reality. Or oil fields, as the case may be.

However Pakistan gave covert permission for the bombings some time ago.....
The intensity of the bombardment now has made the drone attacks a highly emotive political issue in Pakistan, feeding anti-Americanism. Pakistan's government and army protest loudly after each strike. And yet it is thought that Islamabad is secretly cooperating with the attacks, providing much of the human intelligence that allows the drones to target safe houses in the tribal area where al-Qaida militants are suspected of hiding out. The country even goes as far as hosting CIA agents in Pakistani army compounds in the tribal area, who call in the strikes.

afrter living there for a few years my conclusion is as simple as this. they have been bombarded with talk of liberty and democracy for so loong that they genuinally beleive everyone else in the world should have and hold their ideals.

they genuinally beleive they are the most free people in he world, when realistically the are not as free as they think, they are just convinced they are!

    Alphabetically we're next.

Ever notice how they have been moving further west since the 1940's?

I had no doubt in my mind about that.
It still pisses the innocent civilians off though and that government will not be there forever.

Wow, what a crock of crap. I hate that brainwashing crap.

Nodin, it is obvious to everyone but the americans themselves why they attacked the countries they have. It's not a conspiracy theory, it's as obvious as night and day.

Yes java, I understand how TV works... I do not think that every american is like that, don't get me wrong. It's just scary how so many do believe in what they do is right. The ones on micheal moore... I don't watch much of that crap anyway.

well another thing i noticed is that the media is a fierce weapon used in america. the whole place is completly anti muslim to the core! when arafat died i remember buying the paper that moring with the front page showing a picture of him with horns coming out of his head sayin "the devil is dead".

israel is the 51st state so it is. honestly to truly understand how america works i beleive yo have to spend a substantial amount of time there. funnily you grow to hate them for their politics, but like them as individuals.

the media feed them nothing but complete bull all the time. its very restricted so it is!

Had they used Heathrow, the troops would have eventually arrived in Majorca and their weapons would have ended up in a car-boot sale in Essex.

Is there a reason I should be afriad of america?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,255 ✭✭✭anonymous_joe

    Great song.

Am I scared of America - no.

Say what you want about our Yankee friends, but they're not actually evil. Guantanamo Bay and things like that were, but America's goals were relatively speaking good. They're pro democracy, usually pro civil rights, etc.

The main problem is that historically they've always been quite isolationist, and as such, when something does happen to them (9/11, Pearl Harbour) they're not used to it, and so react with a lot more force than most.

In general though, they're not that scary. And they're not actually going to ever attack anyone like Ireland, so we're safe. ;)

For all the talk about American ignorance of the abroad, I am reminded of the apocryphla story of an Iraqi talking to Powell about how most Americans can't find Iraq on the globe, the response being "Yes, but those who can are US Marines."

I don't think Ireland has anything to fear from the US as long as there's no bizarre European/US conflict that kicks off.

    NTM

Nah, not afraid, sure why would I be?

They'll never bomb Ireland, shur that's where all the Leprechauns are.

And what potential threat could we ever pose to them an' we not even got television yet?

We're grand so we are. Fine and dandy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 223 ✭✭Four-Too

Your damn right they are gonna bomb tha **** outta some poor people, actually, Obama called for a civil defense group in America to do the duties of the army, but what is this for?? Think about it! Is there some kinda threat inside the USA? Almost NO threat.
When the great sinister movement has taken over your country and infiltrated the government, even their own citizens aren;t safe.

I spent 3 months in Washington DC this year, the people are great.
Nope problems whatsoever about the civilian population at all.

But I am worried about the military / top secret shit.

Eg. the HAARP weapon is supposedly this high powered energy weapon which could do God knows what to the atmosphere. A bit like the way the old nuke testing spread radioactive particles all over the world.

I reckon the Americans have some serious advances in science under wraps. I've seen documentaries where some interviewees were saying that they're about 50 years ahead of where we are today, science wise.
    Mostly military applications I'm sure.

If they had a method of generating vast amounts of clean energy, they may not want to release it for fear it could be used against them as a weapon.

So, while I don't necessarily fear the Americans (military industrialists, secret organisations within government etc), I don't trust them.

What they are doing in the Middle East is just plain stupid. Its just pissing off a nest of angry wasps...
Islam is the biggest religion in the whole world. And the so many of them do believe that it is ok to kill people if they're not Muslim. There is going to be all out war I tell ya...
