im on the dole there the last while and im drivin a 2.5 liter car, i thought id have a job by now to fund it, but things are fairly slack at the moment, no cash jobs at all anymore, so things are gettin tight.
what i was wondering about was getting a fuel allowance?
Do you have to living away from home for this?
my mate told me it was only about €20 though and not to bother, fúck that i said, free petrol is free petrol.
also is there an allowance to wards the running cost of a car, servicin and tyres and the like.
    thanks

The only fuel allowance I have ever heard of is for home heating fuel. I get it as I am a single parent in a council house. Never heard of anyone getting money for petrol though. Could you be mistaken?

Fuel allowance exists but it's for people on low incomes who need help on the cost of heating their homes.
It's a good scheme and many elderly people avail of it.
For some elderly people it raises their standard of living and plus it decreases risk of possible illnesses. Probably saves the state money tbh

I think you are in the wrong forum :p

If you google - fuel allowance- the first link you should get is to the citizens info website. It has all the details there

Its €18 per week by the way and is a great help when you have a low income

...you must be in receipt of unemployment benefit or assistance for 12 months. There's a booklet SW17 - National Fuel Scheme, which you can probably pick up at your local dole office, which gives all the information about the scheme.

As I have found out the hard way...its not 12 months its 15 months
You have to be classed as long term unemployed which is 15 months. Although Citizens advice website said 390 days, its 390 days not counting Sundays..!$%&*? I have asked CA to change their website as it was incorrect
