The fact that your parents don't support you is irrelevant, you are going to be assessed and their income will be taken into account.
Well they do support you, you get to live at home with minimal cost.

Maybe it's unfair but it's the way it's done and it's even worse for people trying to start college who don't even live at home.

Realy, you're going to get feck all and certainly not the full job seekers amount.
    Maximum is 197.80 weekly.
Nobody but the welfare officers can tell you what you'll get, maybe 50-100 weekly but that's a guess
    Good info here:

And yes, documentation is important. Sure they might reckon you are trying two different claims with two different PPS numbers. Get your application correct and they won't have a reason to complain

No offence but if you haven't found a job since August you haven't been looking to hard. There are still jobs out there albeit they may be paying minimum wage but you'll be better of in one of those jobs than on the dole.

How do you know that the OP hasn't been looking too hard? Do you know where she lives, if she has transport/can avail of public transport to get to a bigger town/city if she is living in a rural location, what the state of the jobs market is in her locality??

Even min wage jobs in the likes of fast food places and supermarkets are practically non-existent in some areas, due to so many people who have lost their jobs all scrambling for work, and some areas of Ireland have virtually no jobs going. Some supermarkets/retailers are posting notices on their doors that there is no xmas work available and they are not accepting CVs, and retailers are talking about letting current staff go after the xmas period anyway.

OP has stated she has only had a part time job since doing the leaving cert, so not much experience either which can most definitely work against you, especially if going up for a job against people with a lot of working experience under their belts.

OP get the letter from your school ASAP and see what you are entitled to. It most likely won't be the full amount of 197.80, seeing as your parent's means will be taken into account, but you may get something which would enable you to even part-pay for your keep until you find work.
