Pregnant mentallers

I just have to see what people think of this cos I think its frickin mental and possibly not serious enough for Parenting.

I was perusing some wedding/pregnancy/parenting websites (Irish ones) and the posters are mad for their tickers. Fair enough. Most of them have the timeline of the pregnancy and/or wedding and are kind of cute. Some of the flashy things go a bit ott and have things like 'I love my husband' which is cringe central but whatever.

Anyhoo, I just saw one (Irish, not even American) that had a picture of a mortar board on it and said "Married with a College Degree, I can afford this baby" at the end of every post.

WTF? Seriously why would you ever in a zillion years have to tell the general populace that?

Yeah I know I have too much time on my hands but I really couldn't get over it.

Pregnant women are hormonal, if they catch wind of this they will try to eat you ;).

Although, I do agree, I love my little ticker but wouldn't go overboard with the shouting it from the rooftops that I can afford to have this baby cos I have a college degree...

Better than having a picture of Playboy Bunny and an accompanying message of:

Single and No qualifications, I'm only having it for the benefits and the council house.

    I HATE seeing those tickers.
I understand people are excited about an upcoming event etc. but to me, the ticker immediately suggests a hint of smugness on the part of the poster, which I don't find endearing at all. I'm sure it's not intentional but that's the vibe I get.

Well if you don't like seeing the tickers in posts just turn off the sigs, simple and yes i am smug :)

Most of the girls here are grand, because of sig rules if nowt else.

But some of the tickers on other sites are a bit neh neh neh neh neh smug married competitive parenting tw*t like.

Pregnant women can be mentallers. But generally speaking they are a nice bunch. but its not right to generalise. Some of them are mentallers.

The tickers dont bother me. Its the women who carry on like being pregnant is like being disabled that drive me mental.

Well it may very well be simple, but I didn't even know you could turn them off, never mind how to - is everyone reading a forum expected to?

Faceman..unless you've ever been pregnant thats not a very fair comment.. pregnancy effects every woman differently and some really do have a hard time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭hairyfairy00

No Faceman is right, some of us can be complete mentallers, of course i'm not one.......yet :P

    it is sexist.

Men cannot get pregnant but they can be mentallers

Now where did I leave my severed rabbits head.........?

That whole fad started in New Zealand. The emergency services were keen on it because it alerted them that there may be a child in the car at the scene of an accident.

I hate every parenting site I have ever looked at and most of the posters make my boil boil thank the gods the admins agreed to a parenting forum here a few year back.
