    Hi guys

I was wondering what the above means in relation to buying scart cables? I just got a new 42" plasma and have NTL digital hooked up to it but with the bog standard scart that came with the NTL box and the picture isn't great. I want to invest in new cables and have been reading about "RGB Picture Only". Does this mean I need a seperate scart for the sound??

    Thanks

if you get a decent fully wired scart it will do RGB picture and also audio. QED do a good scart for 50 quid that i use and it gives an excellent RGB image

Scart carries audio and video in both directions in 21 wires.

There are 3 types of video - composite (yellow RCA), svideo (4pin din) and RGB (Red Green Blue).

If you have a fully wired scart, it outputs all of these all the time, thus in theory may cause cross talk in some signals.

An RGB only scart is just that, it reduces the interference of the composite and svideo wires.

You could wire up a very lightweight screened Scart cable with just 4 wires (RGB out pins to RGB in + ground) if you wanted the best quality picture (that scart can offer). Obviously you'd be routing the audio somewhere else (eg from the optical output).
