Connecting to a dish

    Hi guys,

We moved into a house a couple of months ago where there is already a dish on the roof, but I've not got any idea of what I should be able to do with it.

I did ask a local company out to take a look and give me some ideas, but as I don't know anything about satellite TV, I really don't know what they were talking about, hence my query here.

The guy said that we could pick all of the European terrestrial channels using this dish without the need to change it, including all the English channels and RTE too. My wife is Brazilian and the guy said we could also pick up South American TV.

P.S. My brother in law gave us a Fortec Star box recently as he said he no longer needed it... ii sthis any good to us?
He quoted us €1,300 to get the basic set up but said to get South American TV would be an extra €950 as it would require "an extra eJYRQ to synchronise with the correct satellite". He also said that he could get us a "VTR-HD set-top box" for €670 (£50 cheaper than in Newry, apparently) so that we could record all our satellite programmes.

What I want to know is, does this seem a good deal?
