This week, I have been mostly playing... what?

I was thinking this may be a good idea for a thread. The idea is you post what you have been playing this week, including for how long and if you are having any issues in-game. A place to talk about what games you have been playing online, any particularly interesting trophies you've won or new releases you've picked up.

I suppose I'll start: Pretty much the entire week has been spent playing Guitar Hero World Tour. My female housemate, after only picking up the drum-sticks last week is already playing them on Hard whereas I still wallow on Medium.

Between gigs, I have also been maintaining my iron-grip on the League D with my Master League team, Blackwall United, in PES, though we were recently beaten in the European Cup Semi-Final. :(

Anyone know when Harmonix are meant to be releasing their patch for RB2 to allow GHWT drums to work with it?

In my case it'd be quicker to list when i was'nt playing games.

This week i played Tomb raider underworld finished it, played some 2 player LBP with a mate and 4 player online. Spent sunday night getting hammered and playing wipeout hd, gradually won more races as i began to lose the ability to walk.

You probably just got more accustommed to the felling of floating on air and therefore played better. Or it could be the fact that they have released a patch to make the game easier!

yesterday, I was prompted last night to install it.

This week I've mostly been playing Fallout 3. After flitting between good and evil in my first play through I've been as evil as possible on this playthrough. Got to Level 20 well before I've finished the main story though, so not playing is as compulsively as I was all last week.

I've also been playing Rock Band 2, and a few of the trophy challenges in Pixel Junk Monsters.

Is that the patch that allows for the GHWT drums to work or just a general patch? I haven't seen any stories on Kotaku or anywhere.

If it is the correct patch, ye may already know what I'll be playing next week already.

Fallout 3 has been in my machine for quite a while now it has fought off competition from far cry, LBP, Gears 2, res 2 and GHWT which are all just gathering dust untill i am finished with Fallout 3.

Well harmonix announced the patch was done, I read it on joystiq.com or ps3fanboy I think the other day. Can't test it as I have the RB2 instrument set, no intention of getting GH:WT. Have 346 songs on Rock Band now so I can't see me ever having the urge to swap discs for the sake of one or two songs I want to play.

Sadly I've cooled slightly on the drums since I started drum lessons inbetween my RB1 set breaking and getting Rock Band 2, the pedal on the RB set is breaking my heart. So working on modding a real drum pedal.

MotorStorm 2 : Pacific Rift has been in my machine all this and last week. Awesome game, improves on the original in every way and has superb online modes also.
In my top 3 of my favourite games of this year for PS3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,457 ✭✭✭giggsy664

And the original motorstorm was very good too!

I've only been playing lbp. I'll probably go back for a quick game of cod4.

    Fallout 3.

I am getting rid of this by the end of the week. Bored stiff of it. Did the conversation thing, got annoyed and killed all. For me, this was way overhyped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,789 ✭✭✭eddhorse

Yeah Fallout is a tad slow for my liking and i did complete the original "System Shock".
I suppose not every game has to be fast and action filled.
I stole a book by accident in the church of the atom in megaton and the whole place was after me....got killed over and over till i got out the front gate and came back in. Phew.

Just finished Little Big Planet. 34% completed in trophies dang

Far Cry 2, which even though it cost me £20 thanks to a CDWow mess up on price, is a huge dissapointment.

The word "meh" has never been more apt.

Deadspace is taking up all my free time at the mo. Brilliant game for the likes of me who worships movies like Aliens, Alien and The Thing. Its a real breath of fresh air after that useless piece of sh1te more commonly known as Far Cry 2 - yes I'm bitching about it again cause even though I too picked it up cheap following CDWOW's mistake on the pricing, it still wasn't worth the €30 I paid for it. Thankfully it was traded in for Deadspace (I got €35 from Game for trading in Far Cry 2 so it wasn't a total loss) and I got a brilliant game in its place so alls well that ends well.

My God, we get it. You don't like Far Cry 2...

Dead Space is awesome. It seems more like Event Horizon. Actually its getting me more excited about Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Although I can't get on the PS3 much these days I'm playing through LBP second time around to get more switch triggers and unlock more goodies.

I've barely made a dent in Fallout 3 (pretty much just left Megaton for the first time) although I've had it since release, is there some kind of threshold where once you reach it the game just envelopes you? While I admit it's a good game its not as utterly engrossing as I thought it would be, but again I haven't gotten all that far into it.

And I picked up MGS4 after leaving it for 3 months to play it for about half an hour. I really should finish that game!

No no no, you don't get it Otacon, I hate Far Cry 2 with a passion for the awful let down when I was anticipating a worthy successor to Far Cry 1.

Seriously though, couldn't agree more with you on the wait for Aliens: Colonial Marines. I'm just a bit worried that (a) it might be another Far Cry 2, all build up and massive let down (:p:D:D) and (b) that it could be cancelled like its earlier namesake for the ps2. Oh to have a pulse rifle and hear the motion tracker warning of "movement, all round" and hearing "Marines, WE ARE LEAVING!". I hope they don't screw it up. See you in the queue to get the first copy.

It has to be a brilliant game to have the title of Aliens Colonial Marines or I'll personally sue them for defamation of an outstanding movie:D

Played it this week and hopefully returning it tomorrow as it's terrible and not worth the money, trading in for somthing good(haven't figured out what to get yet. Any ideas?). Played fallout 3 when I wasn't playing farcry.

You guys have no idea of the stick I took when I reviewed Far Cry 2. The fan boys crucified me for not liking it. Glad to see there are others who think Far Cry 2 is crap. Now where's Otacon when I need him to see this?:D

No problem people not liking it. Just when your views are posted on several different threads, identical posts, it gets a little annoying, especially when you are comparing a PC Far Cry with a console Far Cry 2. And every second post you make after it mentions how much you dislike it.

Overkill is the word that describes it!

I havn't played PS3 since...early October maybe? Been far too busy with college, and it's killing me because seemingly there are such great games out now. I've ordered Fallout 3 and Resistance 2 for Christmas, will probably also pick up End War (for a change of pace) and then choose between Dead Space and COD5.

This week, I have been mostly playing... Guitar Hero World Tour again!

After finally wrestling the drum sticks away from my housemate, I was able to give the drums a proper lashing. Really addictive, especially 'The Kill' and that song from the Hushpuppies. Tried my hand at the creating music aspect of the game and failed miserably.

Other that that, I've been playing BAL mode in PES 09 and also doing a few missions in Far Cry 2. In PES, I am now a striker for Liverpool, currently coming third in the league. Only 19!!
