How are they putting them to shame?

The lights are going on friday and i think its plenty of time,It annoys me when the lights and tree are switched on in the middle of November. At least the radio stations dont play christmas songs until December 1st

    Why's it self praise?
The only reason they put the lights on ridiculously early elsewhere is to try and sweeten people up to spend more money, sure didn't the Dublin City council even admit that? Friday is plenty of time to switch them on. Nothing maddens me more than twats who lob up lights the day after Halloween. I'm all for loving xmas but I find the buildup is ruined when it starts happening too early.

    well done to Revolution
the city should take a leaf from their Book -
Spend a little - make the city look great - do better business

city council should try a bit better to upscale their sad attempt!
and use led to save money

btw - love the Carosel on John Roberts Square -
seemingly part of Christmas in Waterford Festival
seen some brochures - kids events - santa run with 400 santas -
Handels Messiah - can remember more -
but will track down the web site tomorrow

put revolution as an example of what can be done and
let the city shine for Christmas and banish the recession !

What about the new lights on the Bandstand in Ballybricken - paid for by local businesses, I gather, so well done to all concerned. It looks great.

I think it's self praise because perhaps Jimmy maybe somewhat involved with revolution ?

Always wondered how one man could praise the place so much without being involved. You sure though? He has praised himself in the past i think. Seems an odd thing to do?!

Ah okay that solves that little conundrum, had a feeling. That carousel is the dogs bollix though. Really great to see something so different lend such a feel to the place. That site is fairly class too, glad to see it doing a good job of promoting the city.

Does it operate all day, or is it an evening thing?

I have to give Kudos to Debenhams for the Santa they have positioned upstairs beside the elevator. He's separated from the public by a simple rope and he just sits there in his chair beside a tree chatting to all who pass by. There's a charge to go and sit with him, but the fact that he still interacts with passers-by is great. When no-one was near him, he just started singing Jingle Bells. Wonderful stuff...

No such thing as a dumb question :)

Yes, he is real, but I'm not sure what times he's there. It was a Saturday morning when we were there.

I think he's there all day I was having a rotten cup of coffee in kylemore and he came to the window on the bridge and started waving at me. Must admit I **** myself from laughing.

Has anyone ventured out to see the usual house just before the 60km/h marker on the way into Tramore? It's an amazing sight...and sound! People are pulling up in the lay-by just to take pictures or videos.

I realise this could go in the County forum, but it is aimed at getting the city folk to go out and have a look.
