    hi,
whats the best (easiest) way to record our own live show? We want to be able to listen back to ourselves and have a decent quality.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

It depends on how many inputs you have.

The simplest way is the stereo mix from FOH however some element can be unbalanced, oft times guitars (taking it you have those!)

The next simplest is taking a direct out from the FOH groups (if there are groups) probably 4 stereo pairs

After that direct out from the individual console chans to multitrack.

The really serious way is a mic splitter on stage and record the individual mic signals i.e. not relying on the FOH mic pres.

So there are quite a few options ...

If its easiest you want (which ain't best but good for starters:D) is to get yourself any mp3 player with a line in input. Take an out from the desk (like said before, on a group, Master B, aux etc etc) and press record!
You'll most probably need a cable from twin XLR female to single stereo minijack or else twin 1/4" to single stereo mini.
I've done it before with my mp3 player. (Have 2 f xlr to phono cables plugged into a twin phono to stereo mini adaptor)

depends a lot on the set-up too, no point in recording from the desk if say only few instruments are going through it,(say in a small PA set-up).
if everything is going through a desk, yeah use the stereo outputs, but quite often the vocals are quite high.. if its just for yourselves try a portable recorder like a zoom h2 set up in the room,or even a cam-corder works well - and you get to see how the show looks too!

Good point. What I was saying assumes everything is through the desk, which it may not be.
