    Hi,
I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me how much a student return ticket for the Dublin-Belfast bus costs? I've been looking on the Bus Eireann website but can't find it. Also, are there any private companies that serve that route?

Think its somewhere between €15-€20 at most. Who knows, may even have somespecial going on, so check that too(yeah would involve adult prices, but for cheaper).

AFAIK there is no student rate. Its normal Adult fare.

That is correct. From Dublin city the return fare is €22, single is €15, from Duiblin Airport it is €20 and €14.

Aircoach are €22 and €15 but their Belfast route starts from Dublin Airport, you have to change there to get to/from the city centre.

Aircoach tends to be slightly faster too because it's not very popular in the north so it generally only stops in Dublin, Dublin Airport and Belfast.

They charge a single price though, don't they?
Dublin - Airport - Belfast is one ticket, but you've to change?

its actually about the same time because the aircoach also stops in dundalk, newry, banbridge and hillsborough although these are just to let people off and most of the time the driver will ask if anyone wants to get off there and if noone is getting off at hillsborough for example he will bypass it. it is very popular in belfast, well, just as popular as the ulster bus one....

oh and about the price, no there is no student fare and its €20 euro return and that is from anywhere on an aircoach route. so i get on in sandyford and change buses at the airport and its only 20.

If the Aircoach timetable is not a work of fiction every northbound service starts in Dublin Airport, picks-up in Drogheda and Dundalk and drops in Newry, Banbridge and Hillsborough. So at the least from Dublin City by Aircoach requires a change of bus at Dublin Airport and at least 2 stops for pick-ups plus 3 possible stops to drop off if anyone wants Newry, Banbridge or Hillsborough.

Considering there are no listed connections you would want to be at a city stop at least 40 minutes before Airport departure time I can't see how Aircoach could be faster.

It should also be mentioned that there are changes due soon to the Bus Eireann/Translink service that will remove the Drogheda and Dundalk stops from all of the Dublin-Belfast services.

I guess it depends where you are, I'm on the northside so it's easier for me to go to the airport than the City Centre therefore Aircoach is quicker for me.

It generally takes between 2hr 20 - 2hr 40 when I've been on it before. Only once took longer because someone needed a toilet break!
