    Has anyone seen this yet?

I think the fact that they are so publicly recognising Apple as a potential threat is a bad move for Microsoft.

Apart from that, the ad reeks of corporate cynicism.

I'm surprised the ad hasn't crashed yet.

I imagine the guys at Apple are delighted to get so much recognition.
    Obviously, "IT'S ON!"

    This was almost predictable:

Incidentally, I just installed Vista on a bootcamp partition on my iMac and it frickin sucks. Microsoft really need to take their logo out of the 80s, for starters.

They're a bit late to be honest.

...and yes, "I have a beard"

Seen this ad campaign a few days ago and i dont really like it. It was the same with the "Mojave experiment" crap..... like that was such an obvious fake if ever there was one.

Nothing will top the mac vs pc ads i think. Witty, get to the point and they iron out some of the simple and basic fundamentals that keep us all with the OSX platform

Personally I never much liked the Mac vs PC ads, but I can see the appeal, and appearantly it has been a good campaign. Still, Vista must be also held accountable for rising Mac sales.

I've always thought Apple should show screen shots demonstrating how elegant the OS is in use, but what do I know about advertising :p

The ad's never bothered me that much.
Good way at getting the message across what macs do for the unfimiliar. And yes windows vista alone is the pc killer.

What bothers me was all the pc fan boy response ad's that they did.

    One word response: Games. :(

Mac have done great with the iPod and i-* gadgets in convincing people they are a quality company they can trust with their tech. Macs looks sexy but in the end of the day a lot of nerds (of which I consider myself one) want to play games and they make up a big part of the Key Decision Influencers of computer sales.

I have Vista and its got problems, not big big big problems but its bloated, its a bit sluggish but it does have some nice UI changes that I find myself using a lot. Remember when XP came out and it had massive driver compatibility problems, yet after SP2 everyone was (and is) hailing it as the best OS MS has produced. I wouldnt write off Vista just yet but they have a lot of work to do to patch it up...

    DeV.

Trying to defend Macs as a gaming machine is a losing battle i'll admit, what games we do get seem to be more of an afterthought to be honest. I've never been a big PC gamer so that aspect of this 'conflict' doesn't bother me (though Left4Dead looks great and I'm looking forward to Diablo 3).

These tit-for-tat ads are really for the middle ground of computer owners as people who know what they want will buy what they need. The fence-sitters and exceptionally casual computer users (non-technological parents etc) seem to be the only people really affected by these ads... oh, and the fanboys :)

Quite liked those Windows ads myself.
But then again, I'm not a mac fanboy :p

Equally as smarmy as the apple ones and I dont like them. Funny though but sad like the apple ones.

Those ads with Jerry Seinfeld were terrible. I don't know what they were trying to show in the ads but it didn't advertise Windows in anyway.

Can we stop with this idiotic joke? Been running vista for about 3 months now and it has never crashed and my previous XP install was also rock solid. Don't fill an install with third party ****e and it runs fine.
