aluminium digital cameras

hey everyone just a wuick question. are digital cameras made from aluminium generally more shockproof and waterproof than plastic ones? what is the best material for a camera to be made out of because im looking at polycarbonate ones aswell. cheers!

but would aluminium be good aswell? i just want a sturdy enough camera to go travelling with!
