Irish Rail - Cannot book by phone or internet?

    Anyone else having trouble with Irish Rail at the moment?

    Been trying all day to book a ticket on their website. Have tried multiple PC's, multiple Operating Systems, and multiple types of browser, all with the same effect. You can go all the way through the booking, seat selection etc, then when you submit your payment an error pops up saying it could not be processed at this time and you will be returned to the home page to try your booking all over again. Been doing this all day.

    So I figure I will ring them to book. Only problem is, the nice lady in the reservations centre can't actually book a ticket for me either, as it's not working for her! Yet when she rings their technical dept she is told that they can 'see nothing wrong' and it must be a problem with both her connection, my connection, and the load of other people who have called her today with the same problem!

    So as of right now, you cannot book a ticket for an Irish Rail service by net or phone. Madness.

    I'm not sure if its the same issue, but last week I had similar symptoms when I used my laser card, but it worked fine with my credit card.

    Cheers for the tip. Was using my Mastercard, just tried with Laser there now and it worked.

    I think they need to work on their error reporting a bit better..
