Hotel/travel site - any open source solutions?

A guy contacted me recently about setting up a site, something like ireland.hotels.com (though it would not be a competitor by any means).

Are all these sites totally custom jobs? Any open source packages or modules help out here? (I didn't see anything close on sourceforge)

I was wondering if, for example, a Joomla installation with each hotel on a page would be a starting point. It could later be hooked up to a booking engine if required.

Do hotel owners generally have logins to the site to update the list of features of their hotel or is it all done through the site admin?
