No SSFII Turbo HD for PSN this week

Capcom has admitted that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will not be released on PlayStation Network in Europe this week.

The publisher has previously refused to comment on the PSN version - despite the fact it launches in the US this week - but a spokesperson told Eurogamer today that "it's definitely not this week".

HD Remix is due out in the US today on PSN and worldwide tomorrow on Xbox Live Arcade, where it will cost USD 14.99 and 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40) respectively.

The fancy HD-graphics version of one of the best 2D beat-'em-ups ever has been in development for almost as long as Capcom has existed, and features 1080p visuals, a soundtrack by OCRemix and online play among its new features.

I was gonna get this today on the PS3, due to the better D-pad, but I think I will get it on the 360 due to the delay and also most of my friends are on that.

Really disappointing to see this delay, especially, as we aren't given any reason for it.

I'm assuming I won't be able to buy this from the U.S. store?

    I don't think so. I'd say it's region locked.

    Sony are dumb.

Depends on whether you have a US account with a valid means of payment. I had an Entropay card working before they restricted use of them. That's the only thing that might stop you TBH.

I have only come across one or two games and demos that have been region locked on the PS3. This is a Capcom game and I am currently playing Capcom's MotoGP '08 demo from the US store, so I doubt it will be region locked.

Probably not out until Thursday though, (despite what the article in the link says) as that's when the PS Store gets updated. I will have a look later tonight to check.

I will, however, be buying if it's on the US store. Should work out at around €12-12.50

I'm patiently waiting for Castlevania SOTN to be released on PSN in europe. Same story, it is out all over on Xbox live and is on PSN in the US but no word on a european release yet.

I can confirm that the game is up on the US store and that it is NOT region locked.

Purchased ($14.99) and downloaded on my US account and played on my EU account.

US store also has a 'fall game sale' with titles such as The Last Guy and Echochrome for $4.99

    Yeah,
was playing it there for the last hour and I've come to two conclusions....
Firstly, I need to brush up on my SFII.....been out of the game too long..
Secondly, as reviews has hinted at, control should be your number one priority if you've a choice between the PSN or XBLA versions..

The Dualshock D-Pad may not be the best ever, but its certainly light-years ahead of the 360's pad so I can only imagine what the 360 version will be like to play (find out tomorrow anyhow).......but I suppose, if they have loosened up the controls a bit, a pad may get away with it once you've got used to it..

Good news is that is works just fine with the likes of the Virtua Stick and naturally becomes much more accessible..
Very few options as expected.....switch between HD and classic sprites, a few dipswitches etc..
Not a fan of the remixed music though so far..

Multiplay option is there, but can't be bothered with that.....that could be locked to region if you go ahead with a US purchase, but you're chances of getting a decent network game of SFII with someone down the road has been patchy at best in the past.....so offline will remain the preferred method..

Definitely one for fans I reckon, but I would give serious thought to your choice of D-Pad being your final decision if stuck between the two.......even if it meant waiting a week or so for the EU release

p.s. 303mb download for the US release

From my experience with the Street Fighter Collection on the PS1 I'm not touching this until the SFIV gamepads and joysticks are out. It was unplayable on a PS pad and I'm sure it's unplayable on a 360 pad.

Could I use my Irish credit card, and enter a fake U.S. address on the U.S. store without having any dodgy repercussions?

    Possibly,
but where as it'd be easier to adapt to using the PS D-Pad and the fact that the player would have to fork out for the likes of the SFIV stick, Virtua Stick etc, it represents a far better option than the horrendous D-Pad of the 360 pad (which just feels wrong even when not playing a game, never mind SFII)..
With only a short time on the Remix, its too soon for me to say whether or not they've tweaked the controls to better suit current controllers (which they allegedly have)......but chances are the vast majority will be happy with the D-Pad, so it'll come down to which one the player will be more comfortable with..
Any serious player will no doubt remember not having a pad in their hand when the arcade was doing the rounds :pac:

    Well,
you could..........but the only cards that you really hear worked most of the time (apart from the entropays that they've cracked down on) were certain Mastercards..
Small purchases on the wallet could be authorised with basic address details...i.e. first 3 line of your credit card billing address, so as long as they were the same on your US registration it was enough..
Time have changed though, and getting around this has been a lot more problematic over the last year..
Surefire way around it for most people these days it to buy PSN cards/preloaded accounts on eBay..

I was able to use my Dad's Visa card no problem for a year and a bit, then switched over to my own Visa last month, and it worked no problem. The address for my card even has one less line. So I'd give it a shot anyway, no harm in trying.

Only thing wrong with the PS1 pad was the L1 shoulder button.

Best pad for it was the MegaDrive 6 button

It may be better, awhile lot better in fact, than the 360 pad but it's not reliable enough to be of any use in a Street Fighter game. I can pull off any special move or combo 100% of the time on my sega saturn and on an arcade stick. I really tried to play it on the playstation but the lack of 6 face buttons and the that special moves are onyl carried out about 2 thirds of the time means it's absolutely useless. SF2 is about using your moveset to put the opposing player in a postion that opens them up for attack. If a special move fails you leave yourself wide open. Even playing for weeks I couldn't rely on special moves and gave up.

The d-pad is the worst made until the the 360 came along. they have had 5 iterations of the pad and still haven't changed it :/

MD 6 button was a thing of beauty but the saturn jap pad is just that tiny bit better.

Was the PS1 original pad a rubber pad? If i remember correctly (forgive me if i am wrong), it had a soft rubber pad that stuck to your finger perfectly. They they changed the material, first dual shock I think, which became the default
