My first commuting!

Yesterday i did my first commuting with the bike. I went from Sandyford to City center in less than 30mins (hurray!!) and it was faster than Luas! I was actually surprised of the amount of cyclist commuters. I knew that they were a lot but i was moving with luas every day so i haven't seen it. We were like 10-12 cyclists in a traffic light. Everyone was helpful enough to tell me where to turn because i was keeping getting lost :o. Also i think i saw blorg on his way up (recognised him from the pics and the fluffy hair - no offence! :D).

Well nothing else to say here.. just my first impressions as a newbie dublin bike commuter!

Jaysus, 30 mins to CC from sandyford is pretty darn good. I bet it felt good whizzin by all the uninitiated in their cars and buses?

    Weather was crap tho :(

Yeah but today was colder I think - I had to put my skullcap on! (well I was already stopped at lights anyway). Did you cycle this morning too?

But I dunno how you were getting lost - from Sandyford to Town is about as straight as it gets - Sandyford, Goatstown, Clonskeagh, Ranelagh then you're at harcourt street!

You'd be surprised how "maze like" the southside is.

"Amazing" is not the same as "maze like". :D

Maybe if you're a North Side eejit who has no sense of direction :)

Haha, I was wearing my Boards jacket this morning. Thought my skullcap would have hidden the fluffy hair :D

Cold this morning but nice and dry; hope you keep up the commuting, quickest way to get around town, I am driven mad if I have to get public transport.

I will surely continue it! I find it to be less crowded than Luas in the morning :D

My measured commute time has improved immensely since I set my bike computer to "auto pause".

For some reason I'm still late for work though.

Good to hear. I think once you get used to it, you'll find it very difficult to get back on the Luas, with so many commuters packed together in a metal tin like so much sweaty fetid spam.

True, but there are less frotting opportunities on the bike.

Um, did anyone ever see that film that BikeSnobNYC posted a link to, the "Reality Kings" episode with the cyclists?? I could post a direct link but I might get in trouble with the moderators for porno. Here's the link to the BSNYC article. The link to the film DEFINITELY is NOT safe for work.
