CoD WaW first impressions

I know this has been discussed in the CoD forum, but there is a lot of confusion over the platforms people are playing on.

So what is the general consensus with WaW on the PS3?

I personally have been very disappointed with it, so much so that about half way through the SP I tried out the MP as the single player was way too familiar, as in I felt like I had played it loads of times before already.

I know CoD4 raised the bar and it was always going to be difficult for Treyarch to meet, yet alone exceed expectations, I've tried to be objective, and have given myself a week to get used to the WW2 theme.

The multi player maps are good but the weapons feel crap, and the sound, omg the sound is unbelievably bad, not since the Amstrad CPC464 have I heard worse sound, there is no difference between the silly effort at reproducing the sound of foot steps 2 feet away and half a map away. Having been so used to the pin point accuracy of CoD4 I found this too much of a step backwards and have I put COD 4 back in and am happily working my way through prestige mode for the 6th or 7th time.

I'm a bit gutted tbh, I was really looking forward to it, hopefully they will release a patch that increases the feel of the guns, particularly the sound, they just don't sound powerful at all, and they will fix the multiplayer sound, footsteps, explosions and what the hell is that noise that the 'call in an air strike' makes before the bombs land?

Anyone else tried it? What do you think?

TBH I wasn't expecting much from this installment but the online has me hooked.

20 Kill streak in the top gun of a tank is a fantastic feeling. Maps are a bit all over the place but you get used to them. When the last patch was released I found that alot more bullets were missing their targets even if you were right behind them shooting them in the head it takes a good few bullets to put them down.

I don't like some of the guns and am yet to try the single player mode but I'm happy enough with it at the moment.

YOU TRADED IN COD4!!! Go stand in the corner and stay there until you are really, really sorry.

I plan on handing my copy of COD4 to my son, so he can pass it onto his son etc.

COD world at war - I swore I wasn't buying this as Treyarch are not a patch (excuse the pun) on Infinity Ward when it comes to the COD series. However, I saw it for €44.99 in Smyths and bought it but its disappointing and a definite backward step after COD4. Not the worst game I've bought for the ps3 (I did buy Haze after all) but won't feature in my "games that I'll never trade in" either.

Now that sounds interesting, what map was that on? I keep getting the same 3 or 4 maps, the Japanese Island, The Dome, the garden one and Asylum over and over.

Do you have to get to a certain level to unlock access to more maps?

the world war two theme has been killed to death at this stage between medal of honour, call of duty and whatever other games that have the ww2 theme its time i think that they bring it up to modern times like the first gulf war or something

    lol

Even on the PC I can't believe how much the sound sucks.
Don't think there's any EAX sound whatsoever. Sounds like they sent their code back in time to 1980 and asked some studio to do the sounds for them.

I really can't see what people are on about between this and the COD forum. This is a great game. It has the gameplay from cod4 but some really great maps! If you were in doubt like I was just go and buy the game. You won't be disappointed. Sure its all about the multiplayer..and thats still as good as cod 4 but with new scenery! They could have improved but they didn't really but thats not necessarily a bad thing.

    Its a great game!
