    I don't want to open up a canon vs nikon debate, just wanted advice so here is my situation;

    I have a budget of 500-550 euro, with this i have narrowed it down to a Nikon D80 with AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens or a canon 450d with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens.

    I went and held both and preferred the larger D80 in my hand but my question is are they close enough in performance to go with the one that feels right or is the 450d that much better that its worth buying and getting used to?
    I was also drawn to the Nikon because the lens that comes with the package is the new 18-55 VR which usually comes with the Nikon D60 and have heard good things.
    Thanks

    missus just got herself a d80 cheap, and tis nice, quite up to date, nice noise control at high iso, not as good as d300 but sure at a third the price, a manageable concession, I do find nikon grips better, thats what swayed me first.
    +1 for d80
