Mark V Golf audible warning signal?

Hi all, I'm hoping someone might have come across this and be able to shed a little light on it for me. I drive a 2005 Mark V Golf automatic, and yesterday I started to hear occasional little "bips", for want of a better description. I put it down to interference on the radio and thought nothing of it. This morning wheil driving to the train station I heard the same thing, and a couple of minutes later a high pitched beep that went on for about 15 seconds. This evening the same high pitched beep happened again while on the way home. The sound is very different to the normal "chime" of the dashboard warning signal, and no warning lights have come on at all.

I can't find anything in the manual that explains the sound, so I was wondering of anyone has come across this before, and if so do they know what caused it.

    Thanks

Sounds like something silly like a door open warning or a seat belt warning. Not sure about the Golf, but I've had quite a few customers in cars that have a seat occupancy sensor get a seatbelt warning because they had put a laptop on the passenger seat fooling the car into think that the seat was occupied. But in your case I'm sure you would have had the seat belt light illuminate.

Yeah, there's a warning light and it's usually just the regular chime for something like that. Might need to get a pro to look at it to make sure it's nothing serious.

What does this light look like?

Sorry, re-reading it that was a bit unclear. I meant that if it was a seatbelt warning, a light would come on and the normal chime would sound, but there are no lights coming on at all.
