In a perfect world they would let these coupons stack up. And we would all get one the same week and swap them on here. And then wiggle would cry.

I put in about three orders, all just over £25, on that same code :D I wonder can you combine them though.*

    *No, you can't:
There's a problem with the voucher!

You can only apply one free voucher per basket.

I think Wiggle charge Irish VAT these days, if I recall correctly. Good news though for buying from other outlets.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,835 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Oh yeah they probably would since they'd be doing enough business here to warrant it

They do indeed change the VAT rate depending on dispatch destination. Case in point is one of their specials this week- a helmet at £49.99 becomes £60.49 if you select your delivery country as Ireland. I queried this with them, turns out the UK have no VAT on helmets at all, so the Irish price is simply +21% :(

    Thanks for that Cormie.

However, not all online retailers apply Irish VAT to Irish sales. I recently purchased a Specialised Propero helmet from FW Evans online. Cost in LBS: €151. Cost from Evans (inc. p&p): €86 or £UK69.99.

Keep an eye out for last years stock too from online retailers! I got an 08 Giro Ionos, identical to the 09 for €120.

Popped into cycle surgery (ugh!) the other day and saw it on sale for the princely sum of €229.

They have to pass a certain threshold of sales to Ireland before they are obliged to register for Irish VAT. In a way, Wiggle are victims of their own success.

So the trick is to constantly seek out strange, new online UK retailers, favour them with our custom before moving on as soon as our purchasing activity condemns them to VAT liability? Globalisation moves in mysterious ways.

The threshold is quite low, Wiggle are more victims of their own honesty. (Shssss.) More to the point, Wiggle decided to actively promote their cross-EU and international trade, probably got advice on it, and did it legally. Other retailers, including one both starting and ending in "C", are operating in happy ignorance as this regulation seems not terribly actively enforced (and I am happy to give them my business :D)
