How does the mapping software on these compare to Garmin or TomTom?

I honestly dont know. I dont have the Garmin or TomTom, But people that buy the Pioneer AVIC and Garmin/TomTom are different, If you are trying to compare them you should just buy a garmin or TomTom.

surely the primary concern when buying a sat nav is the quality of the maps?
a comparison with the market leaders is pretty much par for the course....

So the pioneer unit is just a bling bling headunit with a very outdated sat nav? I'll stick with a real sat nav suxh as garmin or tomtom so.

Sorry guys I'll try a little better,

The AVIC has a DVD player and screen as well. Not just SAT Nav.

The Garmin and Tom Tom will have more detailed maps as they are the latest out.

The CNDV-70 map is still really good tho. With full coverage EU as well.

The reason for the low price is beacuse it's an older machine. These where normall €2700 when out.

Sorry I dont have more info, I'll try answer any other questions you have,
