Clubbing in Berlin

Hiya, going over to Berlin for a week in two weeks, just wondering if anyone's been clubbing there before?

Been checking out the story with the big clubs and it's been disappointing because it sounds like its gonna be near impossible to get into the "Big 3" Techno clubs - Berghain/Weekend/Watergate.

Has anyone here been to those clubs? As far as I can see, if we wanna get in we're gonna have to change our haircut/dress sense/language/faces if we want to get in.

There's plenty of other clubs we wanna get to anyway, with some brilliant line-up's, but it would be nice to get into one of the above clubs, esp Berghain/Panorama Bar.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice it's be appreciated!

been in all of them. Personally speaking, I think Berlin is the dogs bollix as far as techno/minimal is concerned! just don't try to get in with a big group of fellas and you'll be grand, I don't think they are big into stags and that ****. Don't miss Tresor either, Friday night is stomping!! Berghain can be quite intense, just open your mind!

We went to Tresor but went way too early. Dont go before 2am Id say. Only €10 into tresor too. Tried watergate on a sunday night I think and it wasnt open. May have changed. Also weekend I htink it was on the 12th floor where the sanyo sign is. Heard its good but one of the lads we walked up with was a bit drunk so couldnt get in there. Definatley a place I want to go back to.

    Thanks everyone.
Yeah we are definitely going Tresor on the Friday anyway to see Frank Mueller. I think Tobi Neumann is there on the Thursday as well, though I could be wrong. It's only meself and one of the boys like so we won't be in a big crowd or anything.

Berghain has some class DJ's playing Sat and Sun (Kevin Saunderson/Claude von Stroke/Andre Galuzzi) so hopefully will get a look in there at some stage.

Anyone been to Golden Gate club, or any of the more underground ones?

Of the big clubs that you mentioned ive been in Watergate. We found it easy enough getting in but we had 4 girls and only 2 lads. A group of 3 lads infront of us got turned away after queing for the guts of an hour. A few mates went on to Berghain at about 8 on Sunday morning. After being initially turned away the bouncers called them back as they were walking away because they had been polite about not getting in (again though 2 girls and 1 bloke). Just be friendly / smiley but dont mess about and you should be grand.

If your plan is to hit Tresor on Friday id recommend trying Watergate at about 2 - 3 A.M on Saturday. If you get in stay until about 7.30 and then head to Berghain.

    :o

They told us it was a gay night on the sunday we went after we found out watergate was not open. I thought they were just saying that. Makes me feel a little better now.

There was also a place as we walked to tresor, kinda on a triangular corner, near klosterstase underground station. This place had no signs, no lights, no windows but the sound that was coming from it was unbelieveable, real underground. didnt go in cause we were on the way to tresor. If I could go back id definatley look for it again

Have a look at this thread -

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055413763

Regarding the 'Big 3' - Berghain is the only bollox to get into there. Get to Berghain at about 10.30 or 11 and you should be ok (make sure and be well behaved, and in groups of 2 or less - the more women with ye the better). Close to Berghain if you don't get in - Badeschiff and Bar 25.

Watergate and Weekend are both handy to get into. You can arrive up at 1/2/3am and it'd be no bother.

Tresor on Wednesday night is a must aswell. €5, and generally way way better than weekends there.

You should also catch the Xmas markets all over Berlin. Should be very nice, but very cold out there... (big snow storms and **** there this weekend.)

I must also mention the abandoned Theme Park in Treptower Park for late night warper sessions. Treptower also houses the Soviet Memorial.

The Silberfisch/Tacheles/Oscar Wildes all on Oranienburger Strasse/Friedrichstrasse are good for 'a few pints' when you're not going clubbing. Cheap, good tack, and nice people.
