    Hi,
I have an iPod (won't go into the advantage/disadvantages of different types of media players here...) and like it but there's a few features (development requests (drq) that I'd like added. i know Apple have a drq page but I'm wodnering what feature would you like to see added?
    Mine are:
    1.radio (obvioulsy)
    2. Short cuts- I listen to shuffle a lot. If it plays an album/artist that I want to listen to more of I have to toggle back to 'settings' and change the shuffle mode. Something like double click short cut would be good.
3.variable playlist e.g. 4 or 5 star rating albums and artist name =%% where I could select the artist. Instead I have to create many, many individual playlists.
    4. Display album and artist on same screen.

    1. better file format support.

mp3/aac/wav etc. just doesn't cut it anymore, i want my Flac.

    2. internal microphone.

would be handy, especially for say people in the media that would use it for interviews and the lark.

    3. more acessories included as standard.

i remember when i bought an iriver h140 and there were a ridiculous amount of bundled acessories.

    4. better earphones that don't leak noise.

    self explanitory tbh.

The choice whether to use iTunes or not.

Do you mean in the menu's? On the nano/touch/classic it does this already.

I think those are on the way...
The choice whether to use iTunes or not.

Will never happen. Sure creative don't allow a choice, nor do Microsoft. iTunes probably makes more money for Apple then the iPod unit itself..

As for me, my choices would be:

    1. Display album/artist on the screen when the screen is on "battery save" mode instead of just showing the time.

    2. DAB radio... Apple usually try to get ahead of any trends that may emerge... it's annoying they're fighting a war against radio in America as I would like to have a receiver in my iPod for news et al.

    3. Better guts to improve the output of sound quality. More technical, but Creatives' players manage to sound far better then Apples'.

    4. Bigger screens on classic.

    5. Easier-to-read menu system. Take a leaf out of the Zune book...

The ability to 'line up' a next track would be good. As in put it in the queue.

I had the Vision M and blew it up (new PC build whoopsie :p) after it ended production. I need large capacity and Creative have decided to not cater to my needs. But you are right... the functions on the Zen are where iPods need to be

Sure creative don't allow a choice, nor do Microsoft.

you can use multiple different applications to organise your Creative player - WMP, Winamp, Realplayer, Musicmatch, Windows Explorer - they all work.

Oh I know it'll never happen but it's always nice to wish for it. Creative do give you a choice, you can use Media Player or drag and drop which is the same as Sony.

Except that you can use a Sony player on any OS, whereas Creative only work on Windows, it's not the same at all to be honest.

I've never used Itunes to organise my Ipod. Winamp all the way!

Certainly an out-of-the-box FM radio would be a bonus.

I've had the creative zen nx, iRiver H140, Cowon A2, Creative Zen V (don't ask!), Sony NWZ-A818 and now the iPod Touch 16GB.

I know what I want when I want an MP3 player and I wanted the touch. Your post is a little arrogant sir.

The main reason I use an IPod is that it's the easiest for navigation-
I listen to it at work at lot, it the car etc. so I like to have very simple controls at my fingers.

Radio etc. would be nice but it's not a 'deal breaker'.

I know some people say the sound quality is better on others....

Most DAP controls are simple, certainly no more confusing than iPod controls.

I only use ipods at the moment because they allow gapless playback, if the competition would support that I'd have little/no reason to use an ipod

Ok, maybe I was a little in a bad mood when I posted.

I just find I strange to be posting a wanted feature list for your mp3 player when you went out and bought it yourself (unless it was a gift).

I normally when I want a new mp3 player (or anything else really) I compare different brands/models etc for the features I want and them purchase the one that makes the most sense.

I don't have a big list of players I've used so far it's only been a Iriver h140, for all it's goodness that it offered some 4 years ago. And it has lasted me until I bought a Meizu M6 just over a year ago. The Meizu has/does all I want and that's why I bought one. My only grip is the way you browse your music, I preferred the way rockbox worked. Obviously it's next to imposible to get all you want from a player, hence the reason for this thread.

I seen gapless and codec support mentioned in previous posts, you guys should look into using Rockbox. Here's the list of features it boasts.

If rockbox had a supported player that fit my needs in terms of flash memory/battery life then I would surely have one, as it is none of the RB players fit my needs. Perhaps when the Cowon D2 is supported better they might have an option for me, but even then the touchscreen implementation sucks - at the moment and for the foreseeable future as no one is working on better mapping out the touchscreen controls. A rockboxed 32gb Creative Zen would be perfect, but it is never going to happen.

Projectmayhem, you can get a refurbished Vision M on the Creative Site for 120 squids, if you're after another one.

Yeah but now I've gone far beyond 30GB on my iPod, plus the thickness of the vision M would annoy me after owning an iPod for so long... though I am quite intrigued by the Zune...
