    Only two ways.

    1) Connect the NTL-PVR to dvd recorder or VCR or Video capture on PC via the second scart connection.

    2) Remove HD and try to figure out the proprietary filesystem and encryption.

Connect the DVR to a DVD recorder and copy to DVD, then rip to PC.

Since we don't own the boxes what rights if any have we got to go into the DVR to try and do this, if you had enough time, or even change the HDD if it dies?

No rights. UPC own the box.

It's very annoying that you cant simply attach a computer to the dvr and transfer files copied. I've had mine for about 4 months and it's 50% full already. I know I shouldn't be hoarding recordings but I like to record series (World at War etc etc) and watch them slowly when I have the time

I got rid of my DVD recorded a while back and realised there is something on my DVR I want. It is annoying I can't just USB / Network is and work away.

Read the thread above. DVD or video capture card only.

hi, as per other thread these devices do not support copy to dvd, as it would aid infringement of copyright on broadcasted items.. so in short upc don't like to be sued so, the service is not supported..
