Bring pyjamas, dressing gown, underwear, toiletries, slippers, socks, something to drink and some magazines or books.

I think hospital food is a matter of opinion but I'd eat anything and always found it to be nice. Its only one day so you don't need to worry too much about food.

Ask someone to bring you in and to take you home and best of luck.:)

You won't get a semi-private or private room unless you're paying for the stay privately, ie with your health insurance - and even then you'd have to have requested this in advance.

The food, I'm sure, will be fine - however, if you're going under a general anaesthetic they'll have you fasting so you won't be allowed to eat anyway!

What to bring - pyjamas, slippers, a dressing gown, toothbrush & toothpaste... whatever you need for an overnight stay! Also, maybe think about bringing a book to read or an iPod to listen to... something to keep you occupied since there'll be a lot of waiting around.

You have Private rooms depending on your VHI/BUPA plan.. check it out with them before you go.. I think it's mostly wards of about 6 beds if you're on VHI.. I'm on plan B with them and I usually get a ward like that.. A private room is extremely rare! Well the best of luck.. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Em, I would ring the hospital, but to be fair your chances of getting one are slim to none. My grandad was having his leg amputated and was dying, and they still wouldn't give him a private room. Unless you're suffering from something that's hugely contagious or has lowered your immunity, you have basically zero chance of having a private room.
