    Yuck yuck yuck

Any boys reading, please look away now!!

Basically, I'm an eighteen year-old, not overly-hairy girl. The only problem I have, is in the whole underarm region. I seem to have 4-5 hairs growing out of each follicle (disgusting I know!) and whenever I shave them they grow back really quickly. I noticed this years ago, and while I certainly didn't think it was normal, I presumed it was, I dunno, some kind of common-ish medical deformity. But I just googled it there, it's a condition called "pili multigemini" ... it occurs very rarely in mens beards and childrens scalps ... and has been documented just THREE TIMES on mens backs ... and that's it!! So, according to the fountains of knowledge that are google and wikipedia ... it would seem I'm the first underarm sufferer of this phenomenon.

    I feel like such a freak :(

Talk to your dr it could be a lot more common as google and wiki are not the be all and end all when it comes to the human body.

Aww ... A friend of mine used to suffer with this on his face a lot. I don't believe that it's that uncommon. Please don't feel like a freak!!

    dont feel like freak!!

Google told me I had cancer once...

There's bound to be some treatment for it. There's always lazer surgery to remove it completely ;)

You're not a freak and I bet most people wouldn't even notice it. It's under your arm for crying out loud... I seen about 150 people today and only seen one armpit, my girlfriends... Don't be worrying about such things :)

If theres only 5 or 6 documented cases, dont assume you have it. The internet sits on a throne of Lies. See a doctor.

As a cosmetic solution, would waxing work vs. shaving?

Same thing really. Hair folicals are still there, waxing prolongs the growth but will not stop it.

    Hi.
Its not a great idea to self diagnose
I remember a friend of mine self diagnosed himself with rickets(spelling not too sure) and he also managed to diagnose himself with narcolepsy even though we knew the reason he fell asleep in random places was because he smoked too much pot.
Dont worry about it there will be someway to sort it out to keep you happy:)

I'm female and Google game me inflammation of the prostate once!

Re: the laser, its not surgery that you get for hair removal simply topical laser treatment. I (and many others) have opted for it for various areas with great success. One of the areas I was most pleased with was my underarm.

I have a hormone problem and used to get overly thick leg hair, but once I went on medication it went to normal. See you GP, there's also a number of very good topical prescription creams for excess hair, Vaniqa being one and ofc, laser if you want to go that route. But don't worry, it's probably something really easy to sort.

I was told that when you wax for a long period of time the hair is actually becoming weaker and weaker so maybe that might be your best bet.
Oh and please don't think of yourself as a freak....you're more unique ;)

Ah nothing to worry bout love!.. im a bloke myself but have something simular that when i shave it grows back the next morning ( ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE on my body) and a good 3/4 hairs seem to grow from the one folicle.. mainly just on my chest and down below.. Presummed it was the norm.. till now lol..

If it's any consolation the GF seems to have it too.. again like yourself under arm..

As others said theres loads options get rid of it.. As a guy im not too pushed tho

Myonly piece of advice is never diagnose yourself. Not even Doctors are allowed do that. More than likely its alot more common than that.

Hey, dont worry about it, you can get it lazered off. Its not rediculously expensive and should last a number of years. If it worries you, just get it permenently removed! Easy peasy.

    hahaha,
I have the exact same thing in my arm pits and i never worried about it once. I think the 4-5 hairs growing from the folicles is just because they're damaged from shaving/waxing/epilating all the time. Well that's what I always assumed. I think all that type of hair grows back after one day, it's not unlike beard in thickness etc.

I don't worry about it, although my head hair is remarkably blonde and my underm hair is black- now that's horrible!
